I do yes. Kawasaki.  How can I help?

Cheers Muzza, been looking at a new STX 15F and a new Seadoo GTX 155 both as social skis. Sea Doo claim they are the best and funnily Kawasaki say don't go near a Sea doo! I want to stay with a non supercharged motor . Any feedback about your Kawasaki....

Funnily enough I own the STX-15F! We love it! It has been 100% reliable and maintenance costs have been limited to the annual service and my need to “summarise” it, (opposite to winterising, I.e. preparing it for storage for 5-6 months).
We configured ours for fishing, so we have a home made eskie on the back with 4 rod holders on it, a combo fish finder / depth finder / gps, mounted on the front hatch, and the transponder mounted at the back on the left just on the waterline.
It take 10 minutes to convert it to a normal looking Jetski for when the kids visit and we tow a two person tube with two up on the Jetski with ease. I’m too old to do tricks and crazy things, but it has the guts and much more to do those things if you want to.
I am anal about the cleaning and flushing of the engine and ski after use, I use a product called salt-away, fresh water and loads of WD40 on the engine compartment when I’m done cleaning. I might spend 3 hours cleaning it after a hard day in the sea.
A couple of my friends have seadoos that I rode before buying, and they were okay, but their purchase cost and running costs are way over mine, and twice I’ve had to tow friends back to the shore who were on seadoos, because of mechanical failure. But I can’t say that their maintenance and care procedures are like mine. If I had to make the choice over again, I think I’d buy another STX-15F. I’ll look in my albums for pics and if I can’t find any I’ll tskr new ones and post them, but it’ll only be over the coming weekend I’m afraid.
By the way, to,put things in perspective, the wife and I go out between 7-10 kms in to the shipping lane to fish, so it needs to be reliable!

Thanks fo the reply. My nephew put me on to the Kawasaki and has had two. It really is a bare bones compared to the Sea Doo but wow do you pay for cruise control , ride modes and brakes etc. Got to ask myself is it 7k better... How much is the Kawasaki to service?

The more extras you have the more things are likely to fail in my opinion.  The STX-15F has the ninja motorcycle motor in it. The purchase price, spares and service costs are all minimum 30% more for seadoos than the kwaka. At least here where I live.

You got too much $$ PB.
I knew a bloke in Townsville that fixed Seadoo’s back in the day. He loved the owners that demanded their ski’s get serviced for the weekend and threw $$ at every accessory he could stock.

He loved it as that side of the business underwrote the bike side (which he preferred).

Brought this new in 2011 GTX260IS, done nearly 200hours and it hasn't let me down. 260hp supercharged beats all the others. Mate has a kwaka nothing but issues. This one has suspension so very smooth ride. Now 280hp 0-100 in about 4 secs. IMO cant go past Seadoo's. Can ski wakeboard and tube behind it. Can pull a 100kg person out of the water with ease. The brakes and reverse on the lever make it so easy. Newer models have the maintenance free supercharger.  Mine cost $1500 every 100 hours as they give the supercharger a rebuild. Heaps of fun.

Cheers Adrian. I think that the brand thing is a little like ford vs holden as both owners have praise for their own brand. The new Sea Doo supercharged dont have the ability to rebuild the super charger its now an unbolt and bin affair. I am leaning toward Sea Doo i must admit but lets see what gets flushed out now the cooler months are on the horizon

Also the seadoo is a closed loop cooling system which means none of sea water ends up inside the engine.  Melbourne Seadoo have excellent after sales service.  I live in the Se and travel to them to get services done. No mater what you buy make sure it has a fogging kit installed.

Mick there are a few very quick skis around with maybe kawasaki 310r (310 horsepower) and Sea Doo 300x leading the race. The Seadoo goes from 0-100ph in 3.8 sec and the Kawasaki  around 1 sec quicker again. To put that into perspective that's about the same as a Lambo or amg 63 in acceleration
