    Hey all,
I've been doing up a 92 Super Glide, which is just about back on the road now.

I wanted to hear from others who have swapped the air cleaner on their bottom breathing evo.

What did you do with the breather, or are there any decent aftermarket air cleaners that can accommodate a breather (not that you really want it going back into the intake).

My bike is a mid-92 - so it bottom breathes, but has top breathing heads on it (that are blocked off). They moved to top breathing in late 92 I think.

    Cheers,

    Hey,
Its bloody common to swap them out.  Three options for the vent hose are:
    1.  The new filter cover setup has a hose mount.  These are fine and work as expected per Stock setup, but can drip oil after a while.
    2.  Run the hose to under the bike (left or right - just not in direct line with the rear tyre).  Any oil mist vents out to atmosphere.  remember its a puff not a suck on this hose.
    3.  Run it a small oil mist filter.  ie a very small filter that gets mounted under the bike or out to the side.  They may still drip oil over time as per option 1 but look okay.

I have run option 2 for about 20 years with no issues.  Its only if you go high horsepower or turbo that I have needed to use a oil catch can, but thats par for the course on a blown engine.

If your unsure then go option 3 as the small filters are bloody cheap on ebay.  Just mind that they are normally plastic and melt if too close to the exhaust (yes been there done that)

Thanks Tussuck, this is helpful info. I might look at moving to option 2 once I've found the air cleaner I like.
Am I right in saying that on a motor that's in decent nick, there isn't that much flowing through this line? The seal on my air cleaner is a bit gone so there is a little bit of oil that weeps through at the moment, but I've just done a top end rebuild so I'm otherwise pretty happy with the motor.

    Cheers,
