    Hi All,
I currently ride a Suzuki Vstrom and am considering ditching the adventure bike and going with a FXFBS. I have test ridden one a couple if times and it is great.
However, one thing I struggle with, because of the tank mounted speedo, is the need to take my eyes off the road to check my speed...or any other info.
From all you experienced Harley riders out there, do you have any tips and hints, will I get used to this? It seems like a deal breaker at the moment but apart from that, the bike is awesome.
    Cheers.

Its a Harley, you will never go fast enough on it to warrant taking your eyes off the road.

If you're thinking about buying a Harley you have to stop thinking about the bikes features etc, because you will talk yourself out of buying it, instead, just imagine looking at yourself riding past big shop windows,

….and, think of all the people admiring your coolness.

I ditched the open face and I went to a full face helmet recently. For starters, my field of vision feels restricted and limited now.  Also I can’t see my speedo anymore!!! I feel I had more spatial awareness with that open face and therefore safer.   But that Speedo thing bugs me.

There's two pain-in-the-arse facets to tank gauges Todd. Checking speed and checking blinkers are off.
On my Road King I cured them by a) tiny led repeater lamps in the rear of the blinker housings, 1/2 hour job.
    b) factory cruise control

Problems solved. Mind you, the FLHX with a full dash in front of you shits all over a Road King.

Nice, I was going to go for cruise control but I didn't think of warning lights for the blinkers. Awesome, thanks.

I felt the same moving to a HD from a GSXR-1000. But it’s really not a problem, you get used to it quick and since the thing isn’t a rocket, you will get a sense on speed etc.
