Hey Ratbob, thanks for the welcome.
I have test ridden an FXFBS a couple of times. The only thing that’s holding me back is a I am unsure of the tank mounted speedo...it seems weird to look down so often and take my eyes off the road. Is this something you get used to? Any tips?
    Cheers

I’m guessing the speedo issue is brought by you wearing a full face lid.
I’m an old fart Toddy (65) and still wear an open face lid so glancing down at the speedo is not an issue. Generally though I reckon you intuitively tend to know how fast you’re going once you’re used to your bike, I find glare off the glass and chrome to be the worst thing on mine, need sunscreen under my nose :-)

Yep, Ratbob, you are right about the helmet. Maybe that’s the answer. Thanks for your help. Now I just have to convince my lovely wife (who isn’t keen on me riding in the first place) that I would be safer without a full face helmet.

Umm...... I wouldn't let the speedo location decide your safe helmet choice! You shouldn't have an obsession with looking at the speedo? If you are worried about speed cameras etc, it, only takes milli-seconds to glance down at it & once you know the bike you will know how to keep constant speed. We all take your eyes off the road longer in other situations to enjoy the scenery (could include hot chick).
    Welcome to the forum.

It is very unlikely that I will change helmet type. It just never occurred to me that it would obscure the view of the speedo. You are of course right about the scenery ;). I don’t mind saying that it’s good to get points of view from people that have experience.

Welcome. I wear a full face and have an FXSTSSE3 with the speedo mounted on the tank. You will get used to looking down. Hard the first time but once you have ridden it a couple of times u will get used to it.

Thanks everyone for the advice. I have taken the plunge and put a deposit on a fxfbs. Should pick it up in a couple of days (when the finance gets approved)
