I was a curious looker with this one maybe 7-8 years ago. Then drank lots of beer and put the highest bid on for it in a drunken stupor. Bid did not hit the reserve price, however was able to haggle with the seller to score it. Not a sandcast, a diecast but could sell it for way more now. Plus it is a hoot to ride!.

Looks a great old jigger, had the same color but a 810 kit and a 4 into 1 with no baffle , nothing like original.

Re the brake master cylinder, I thought they were naked alloy, not black, but I just checked out a bike on the Vic World website, and apparently he is the Sandcast guru, and the bike on his site has a black master cylinder,

It's a beautiful bike, if only you had the foresight 20 years ago, there's a guy in the States who specializes in these bikes, Vic World,

Yeah the master cylinders were black but faded rapidly to the bare look. As this one is perfect glossy  black and with about 40,000 Ks on the speedo you’d think it’s recoated or an update, not that it’s a major issue.

Is it on your watch list or just a curious looker?

I’m just a curious watcher Pauly.
K1’s do me fine plus the new asbestos rules make it messy to import.

Well I see the bidding hit 30,000 US and the Reserve Not Met has gone so she’s on the market now with 4 days to go.

Maybe my guestimate of US $35K is going to be tested....

    Yes I think so Pauly.
Usually serious bidders wait till the last minutes even seconds or lock in this auto bid things, so 4 days out I’m surprised it’s this high.

I have found on ebay, that if you are really keen on an item it is best to bid as close as you can to the final second with your best offer.

Looks like it sold for US $30,000, about $42,000 Aus, surprised there were no further or last minute bids.

Was this a test to see if you can squeeze a new bike to the collection.....

    Wouldn’t that be nice Pauly.
I’m not convinced this is the time to  buy on the open market, maybe just hold or sell, because one day you gotta sell.
35 year olds seem to be far too responsible and look at buying something daft like a house.
Baby boomers are holding or selling to fund their caravans and the current generation seem scared of cars let alone motorcycles so I’m  wondering if US $30k for this type of bike will be the ceiling as less collectors enter the market.

I like your thought pattern, these collectables in both muscle cars and bikes are a bit cyclic , picking the bottom of the market and holding out is the ultimate challenge. Our location and population certainly hold us back with bikes but help with Aust muscle cars. I am still looking for a good 1978 CBX 1000.....

A mate I rarely see has a CBX in one of his farm sheds. You want me to ask what it is and if it’s for sale?

I think you are correct with the ceiling reached . The market for older bikes and musclcars is dwindling , very few young blokes are in the market and won’t later on . Their interests are a lot different to the older generations .

Well here is a bit of a diamond...

It's been on there a while Pauly. 69 grand is a high price, reminds me of something Col (from MDB) said.
Wonder how the seller chose that price?, I guess it was made in 69 so that'd be a starting point.
Do not think the present time is an ideal time to be selling a bike for optimistic dollars.
Still, I wouldn't mind it in the shed if I was chronically wealthy.
