Thanks HH, pity they didn’t give more technical info.
I like the looks of the PanAmerica but for what might be a distance bike, what’s with the flat bench seat? I guess in usual HD style something comfy will be an $$$ accessory.

Sadly i think Harley has run its course with me if this is the next step from them. The designs and engineering over the last maybe 5yrs have been very ordinary indeed.

I'm with you on this one. Still not sure about the M8 and these new softails so hanging on to my TC96 Dyna. Actually have been toying with the idea of getting a carby Evo road king but not sure the aftermarket for that will be around much longer...

With you on that, not sure there’s much time before all Harley’s take a hit in resale value, it’s already hitting some classics as the 60’s/70’s riders move to caravans.

Gentlemen. We’re not dead yet. I ride 2 to 4 times a week. The mostly organised groups of other riders I see on the road, outside pubs and cafes, are Harley enthusiasts. Young old middle aged and or female. More than any other brand of bike!  Well adventure tourers do get a look in but only in groups of 2 to 3.
Everyone I speak to is friendly, interested, either has one, used to have a Harley or wants one.
Do your part to promote the lifestyle. We all know the brand has some mechanical foibles but bloody hell, nothing makes you feel better!

They are friendly until they know it’s you Steelo!
Seriously, fair point on the promoting part. Whether it’s looking pleased with yourself while riding, or looking badass or some feather duster business, we all can play a part.

Agree steelo. I would see a hundred or more Harleys on the road when I'm out on any day on the weekend, dozens more parked outside most pubs. Yes, Adventure/Tourers also a plenty (I'm after one of these as well), but don't know how anyone can say HD is taking its last breath!

Not sure how you got to your last comment......but just as an aside they sold 10.2% FEWER bikes in the USA last year and world wide 6.1% FEWER bikes overall world wide. No one is suggesting they are down to their last $ but the current , and upcoming models are overpriced and ugly (personal opinion) Its no secret that HD are no longer interested in our generation of rider and have switched tack to younger techie hipsters. My Street Glide will be my last Harley unless an absolute steal of a CVO second hand comes up.

Steelo is living the retirement dream Ratrob, gets out all the time.  If your looking for a ride ending in partaking in a delicious iced/cream bun, Steelo is your man.  He is also very knowledgeable regards Botany.  Attends Canberra Floriade religiously ......

Yeah I’ve met up with Steelo, great guy, he invited me out for a ride this week but I couldn’t make it. Damn.
I confess I’m winding him up cause on this topic, I agree old HD riders are a plenty and a good mob, but I’m thinking we’ve stopped spending on HD’s.
My ploy is to get him to confess that even he (and I suspect many others) has no plans to ever buy another HD and hence prices will fall.
    Damn, plot exposed.

Yeah HH, I’d have the current Chief Vintage if they offered forward controls, well engineered, gear driven cams, lots of realestate and handling. Curse my long legs.

The new M8's inspire no confidence in me either and am not looking at buying one.
Have only met 5 people who actually have bought one, 2 road glides, 2 fatbobs and a chick on a sport glide the other day. They all were very pleased with them and had nothing bad to say at all. Obviously "sumping" was not an issue with any of these bikes but the issues with the new engines seem to be undeniably out there which is a real repellent to any new buyer. Plus they are pretty expensive.
