Well at least with their short range, you won’t be far from home when it lights up.

New technology always has teething issues. As catastrophic as some failures may be sometimes, all issues eventually are overcome.

I don’t think you misunderstood it loopie, but using engine as a stressed member isn’t new. In “a good accident” as you called it, most bikes are written off anyway.

I wonder of you could just get a new motor casing and reuse the rotor etc.

I think Loopie is over doing it. Take a Twin Cam Dyna, the swing arm is attached to the back of the trani so the “engine” is part of the frames dynamic. A good side or rear hit will stuff that union. No one worries about it cause the bike will be written off.
The Live wire engine isn’t really a stressed member. The frame will cop it before the engine. From the pics the engine hangs under the battery, buying a new unit might not be more expensive than buying a new transmission but being fair to old mate Loopie, that’s still unknown.
But hey, there’s plenty of bikes out there using the engine as a stressed part of the frame and it’s not been an issue.

I agree mate, for now the Livewire is a city bike, ain’t saying it’s bad but the current declared range is a killer.
