sorry if this has been covered before .. had a quik search and couldnt see anything .
anyway i managed to get myself banned from  7/11 petrol station today .. been using the place since it was built a few years ago and never had a problem with the girls before now except for one time when i forgot to remove my face mask .. took off the mask and no problem .
ive been using an open faced  lid and today some young fella refused to kick in the bowser until i removed said lid ..even after i removed my sunnies as well .. so i begrudgingly took it off and filled up .. went inside to pay and ask what the problem was and straight away got the ATTITUDE  .. these are the rules ...
so i told him ive never had problem before blah blah and its an open faced helmet so whats the problem.. to which he replied find somewhere else to fill up !!!!

thats was it .. i let loose , then he  threatened me with police  , told me to leave premises .. said he would get the manager which i was happy to talk to but she didnt seem to want to come out of her office .. i paid and left completely pissed off ..
any off you guys have a similar issue , i could understand if it was a full face but jeez  !!!!

Yeah I’ve experienced the same with my open faced helmet. Wadayado, want fuel so you gotta play by their rules.
Crazy but I recall coming back from a run in the 70’s, needed fuel and milk. I had a sawn off 16 gauge sticking out my jacket, the missus had a 303 on her back, both had our helmets on, hers a full face and no questions asked, got the goods, paid up and left, but these days we’re all considered criminals.

to be fair it was his general attitude that got me wound up.. when one of the young girls pulled me up on another occasion about removing my mask she came out to me and was very polite.. no problem and i apolagised .. but he seemed more to be on a bit of a power trip.
if i wear my full face i remove it no problem ... my bloody cap cover about as much as my helmet so wheres the issue !

I’ve had this at several servos and have taken it up with headoffices of shell, bp and Caltex, all of who have refused service until I remove my helmet, issue being if there’s nowhere safe to place my helmet I’m not filling up single handed while juggling my other stuff.

In all cases they have replied with there is no helmet removal policy while filling up, only in the store, only time it’s not applicable is if your number plate is not visible, so it’s a store employee misunderstanding of the rules.

Last servo I was at refused me I had a sheik gent next to me with a huge beard and turban and an older gen at the other pump with a cap, moustache and sunglasses.. when the spotty teen told me he wouldn’t switch on until I removed my helmet I asked why, he replied ‘we need to see your face for identification’ I pointed out the other two customers ‘oh but he has a religious reason’.

I'm pretty fond of motorcycling, might go as far as saying it's my religion?

    Funny how times have changed.
My stepfather bought me a high powered 22 air rifle when I was 14 from a gun shop in George street, Sydney.
He had to go back to work and I had to catch the train for half an hour to get home with my new air rifle. It wasn't wrapped up or in a box or anything.
All the old man said was, "If anyone asks ya, tell em your 15", cause that's all you needed to be then to have one.
No one asked me how old I was on the crowded train that day with my new rifle, with telescopic sight that'd fucken kill a person for sure if you hit em in the right spot.

Yep things have changed, back then you probably got a few admiring “good on ya young fella” comments.
Nowadays parents are reluctant to let kids out alone and I’m certain, never carrying a rifle. All part of the reason bike sales are down.
Adventure now happens on an iPad

I honestly cant see the issue.  Just take your helmet off when you fill up.

I cant believe this is even being discussed LOL

the issue is ... ive filled up there for several years, they know me and my bikes ( or at least most of the cashiers do) ... i had an open faced helmet , and removed my sunglasses.
i have been served there with my open face mostly all the time ..  i wasnt  to happy when asked to removed it .. but when i asked what the problem was and the kid stated thats the rules and i told him i had been served before with my open face ... the problem really started when he told me to go somewhere else !!!!

you dont see the issue thats fine but i do ... but be consistant , and dont be a fkn smart arse and agite people .. i wasnt rude to him ( initially )so dont be rude to me

Not all servos have somewhere to put your helmet, dunno about you but I have custom painted helmets worth over a grand, not going to balance it on the seat, sure as fck not putting it on diesel stained ground, holding it in one hand while undoing fuel caps, juggling shit around while filling up one handed with a hot engine and exhaust right underneath.

My point is, either make it official, put a damn sign up, but all of the Headoffices I've spoken to have said its not the case and not required.

Personaly , I've never had the issue , simply because  i always take my helmit off, to be honest , i usually would prefer it off  get some air to my noggin while i fill , then wait in line to pay ...  where do i put it , same place every time , on top of my mirror .
