Just spotted another battery question , and reminded me to update this one.

The SSB HVT-1 lasted around 1 1/2 years, capacity measure below 200 CCA - stuffed !
I put the old stock battery back in for now, still measures over 300 CCA - glad I kept it charged !
New battery time after winter, probably stock HD again.

The SSB 450 CCA rating is really a joke, especially when you realize your average car battery is around
3 times the weight for the same current .

My car battery shit itself this morning, 1 month out of warranty,  I got cheap as mate was a rep, so no receipt. so cant do claim as moved 1200km away.

Anyway, was speaking to the Battery guy up here and he said just about All batteries are made in Korea now, I asked about Century batteries in Qld, He said only the N7 & N9 ( most popular ) are made in Australia,  well at assembled in Oz. He said the casings are made Overseas.

I've only been getting 2 years from the Harley battery's for a few years now, maybe I don't look after them properly I don't know.
I asked for the SSB HVT-1 at the battery shop, the man said no worries but they can be hit and miss, he recommended the RTX20L-BS, he reckon even though it's only 400CCA compared to the HVT-1's 450 CCA they are having a better run from them, time will tell on that.

Speedzter, see above what the battery bloke told me when I got my SSB, I followed his advise, 12 months on and so far so good, time as they say, will tell.

Copy on the china thing, wasn't a shit fight a year ago, most things you pick up and turn over have you know what printed on the label, gunna be a tough divorce!
Not seen those batteries, 550cca seems a lot of power for something so small.

Just had to buy a new battery for the 2008 CVO Springer 110cube.

A few cold nights here in Perth (3C) were pushing the battery to the lower limit, slow to throw over ( but never failed).

Bike been on a battery fighter Junior tender at least 4 days per week. ( gets swapped to other vehicles on a roster basis)

Once the bike had been on a run even just 20 K's then 100% OK. Starting was all good.

In the past the bike would be ridden maybe 3/4 times weekly, 8 K's to work three days plus a Saturday run.

Last couple of years , usually only once for a Saturday morning run due to changed parking facilities/safety at work.

50 K's+ round trip as a minimum. Last weekend 160Km round trip, Beautiful 27C day.

BUT you don't want to get caught out. The "slow" battery was well over 6 years old.

Brand new original HD part # 66000207 was $177.95 in my hand from Highway Harley in Perth.

Seemed a good price to me. Now the bike JUMPS into life , I had persevered with the "oldy" for too long methinks.

Just got an SSB for my Ironhead, haven't put it in yet. The mechanic who was doing work on it told me not to bother with any other brands. I've run Motobatt in every other bike I've had though and never had an issue with them.
