Been waiting awhile for one to come up as a test bike, finally got a go this morning, so far I've ridden .....
    Breakout 114, not for me.
    Fatboy 107, nope.
    Heritage 114, pretty decent.
    Fatbob 114, different but no.
    Sportglide 107, best yet.
This is by far the best of them I've ridden so far, I liked the Heritage but this one is another level.
It turns, stops, handles, great suspension for a stock bike.
The ride position is pretty good, a bar tweak and different seat perhaps, seat was comfortable but seemed to lift me forward or that's how it felt.
The engine was pretty quiet and I would have to cam it but others would probably be happy, if you are thinking about a new Softail at least ride one of these before you decide because the tyre sizes, wheel base and rake/trail of this thing work well together.
Everyone is different but that's my take.

so did u buy it ???
i also forgot to add in my other thread .. the brakes on the sport glide( specifically rear) are the best that ive used on any other bike ive ever ridden bar none.

edit - i added the bassani exhaust and a sundowner seat ..with backrest, the wife prefers the new seat when we go for rides but i prefer the standard seat , they both feel equally as comfy but i prefer the original purely for looks .
as for the exhaust .. its sound awesome but sits to low and scrapes so DO NOT  put the bassani road rage on it.. thats nothing to do with harley though and to be honest bassani should sort that out !.

No wello, I'm window shopping, but if the time comes that would be my pick of them so far, would still like to ride the slim, lowrider, deluxe and street bob but I'm pretty sure where they all fit in based on the ones I've ridden so far, this is a very good bike stock but I would still modify it so it has balls.

Interesting your take on it mate I haven`t ridden any new ones but I really like the aesthetics of the sport glide as well the practicality of being able to take off the bags Hummm

Take one for a ride if you get the chance gidgi, I swear I've spent thousands on top of purchase prices to get near this sportglide, I would still attack the engine though, it's a disease I tell ya haha

I like the look of them too, with and without the bags. If I was looking now, it would be a Sport Glide or second hand Low Rider Sport.

agree but I think the Low Ride only has mid mounts would have to change that unless second hand one has them already .

I thought you could put forwards on the LRS? If not, well, that’d cross it off the list for me.
    Love forwards!

Out of all the newies , this is the one that appeals to me.

Haven't ridden one yet but have been on a run with one, went well in stock trim.

Easy enough to take off the bags/fairing for round town ( think they look good with/without bags, fairing) and great to have the bags for the longer trips.

If I was considering a newie, I'd be taking one for a run, they're not bad looking either, well apart from those wheels ;-).

true that, wheels are not that great. thats where it starts getting pricey wheels, handle bars, exhaust,  filter, cams maybe? blah blah recon I`d be very tempted if all the ducks line up

Similar to my thoughts after a few test rides of the latest models, Sport Glide rode and handled the best for me too.  I will wait however until they think about releasing a 114 or a CVO :)

GM. you seem to like your engines to perform.....wouldn't go for something with a 114? What was your drawback on the Fat Boy?

My main concern with all of these M8 engines is reliability given some of the major issues.
Bigger displacement  to 114 wouldn't matter to me as you can upgrade a 107 up to 124 with bolt on cylinders. Will flog a  harley 114, 117 and  much better bang for buck.

The 114 would be an engine preference for sure Bigfella but unless it was in the bike I wanted it's not the deal maker, the 107 is still a good thing, at stage 2 they can be better than 1 HP per cubic inch and gob fulls of torque in the mid range where the majority mostly ride, that's a good package.
Edit, on the Fatboy, I was leaving way too much bike on the road, it's a personal thing I guess but to me it was not a good package, soft, hard to turn initially then wants to fall over until it's grinding which wasn't much further, some love it though, each to their own. I chucked that sportglide right over and nothing touched down, it steers so well, as long as you don't fit an exhaust that limits you there would be no chicken strips once you got confident on it.

Yeah time will tell on the reliability, the twin cams have their issues though, you and I have the engines with the biggest question marks over them, but they are bloody great when they are problem free.

"you and I have the engines with the biggest question marks over them"

GM, can you please explain this a bit more. If you see this.
As far as I know you have a Slim S with the B (ballanced) motor and Fatbat has the Lowrider S/ non balanced one.
Is it the S motors that have the question mark over them and if so why?.
    Cheers

Fc, I think gm means we have the same 110ci base engine which has had its share of problems in the past. Moreso than the 96/103 engines. The balancer doesn't cause any issues as such.

Fc there have been a few issues. Going back to the early cvo 110 engines of 2007-2008 they had issues with their head castings and valve guides. That was resolved about ten years ago after Harley recalled the effected bikes and replaced the heads. There has been criticism that they run hotter than other engines. Im of the view that once properly tuned (and Screamin eagle’s hot epa cams are swapped out) that’s easily fixed. They seem to go through lifters more than the other engines. The oem lifters are inferior to aftermarket ones. And if the lifters aren’t replaced, lifter failure can be catastrophic at relatively low mileage. There are some theories that the lifter issue may be caused by the double coil valve springs that may be too stiff, at least for their oem application. There are other theories around involving insufficient oil pressure. Gm and others will know more than me
