Good summation by all above, thanks guys. I too like the Heritage but don’t understand why on that model, the rear suspension adjustment that you might use regularly for luggage and passenger weights has been relegated to under the seat ?
I guess it also shows that 240 rear ends stuff up an otherwise good ride.

FB covered it pretty much, A or B, same issues, cranks have been problematic for some, at a higher percentage than the others but if it's good then most likely it will stay that way, the ones I've heard of were noisy from the get go and only got worse with time.
Exhaust valve seals can leak, FB touched on the castings being changed, they have a few times according to some of the yank porter's but the cheap arse fix on the sticking exhaust valve was to increase the tolerance from guide to stem, hence some leak, better fix would be better guides which the aftermarket take care of.
Totally agree with the tune, makes a shit load of difference with the heat.
Lifters are cheap compared to engines, if you take the S as a green light to give it shit then change them regular.

    Thanks for the detailed responses.
There is a lot to consider when buying one of these 110 numbers. Sorry to derail the original thread.

There are blokes on here H&H that have first hand knowledge, I won't name them or talk for them as that's up to them.
If mine goes bang it's an S&S 124 for me, they ship with the good plate and 3 stage pump now, Harley's patent on the oil system runs out in August as well so they will be bolt straight up jobs after that, no need for drilling or extra lines, still cheaper than a new bike and big dumb power.
The sky ain't falling but the question was asked.
I sincerely hope you never have an issue, most don't so the odds are in your favour.
Anyway I still reckon you should all test out the sportglide, it's pretty good.

It's one of those things mate, unless it happens to you it doesn't seem quite real, without names or places the 110S engine failures were dealt with under warranty, complete new engine replacement and old engine back to the states, techs were not allowed to strip them down for root cause, they followed a procedure to determine serviceability and if the engine didn't pass it was changed.
That's all I got for ya on that as it's not my story to tell.

if it's any consolation, I've lunched 2 sets of lifters in 9,000km's, my crank runout is getting worse and worse each time the cam plate comes out.

FXDLS 110ci B motor, all it does is drag race, skids and wheelies though.

A local guy with a CVO Breakout recently lunched his motor - a few months out of warranty.
Thankfully the Dealer came good on a new replacement.

Bags and fairing off it don't look that bad, wheels are a little special but like the original fatbob twin headlight that I hated on first sight they grow on you.

Big fan of the Sportsglide, was the only other model I was even tempted by when I got my Street Bob. Really don't like the wheels on it though. I am an idiot for not even test riding it though.

I love it. Apart from the useless rear brake on the thing I can't really fault it.
Puts a big smile on my face and that's all that matters.

That wheel design. Hell, no. When they can come up with wheels that don't look like they came off an 80's Yamaha, I might consider one.

My main concern with all of these M8 engines is reliability given some of the major issues.

Bigger displacement  to 114 wouldn't matter to me as you can upgrade a 107 up to 124 with bolt on cylinders. Will flog a  harley 114, 117 and  much better bang for buck.

hmmm - I was told, by local dealer, that the 114 has a longer stroke than the 107?? True or just a bigger bore??
    thnx

Hi yes the 114 has a longer stroke than the 107.  The 114 can be upgraded to 128ci via a cylinder/piston swap.
