Today was a beautiful sunny day in Melbourne. 22 deg , no wind, not a cloud in the sky.
Took a ride from Greensborough, via Wallan, Romsey, to Heathcote - about an hour and half.
Gotta say, the road from Wallan to Romsey is one of the best roads near Melb - about 1hr from Melb.
Its about 25ks long, windy enough, really good surface, 100k speed limit , little traffic
Romsey to Lancefield is a bit ho-hum, then a pretty good high speed ride to Heathcote.
My go-to ride is Yarra Glen to Yea via switchback at Glenburn, and back thru Flowerdale , again thru Glenburn switchback. Its OK but now ruined by 80 k zones which used to be 100k zones and HEAPS of double white lines and few dotted lines. But the food is good at Yea pubs. Can also go back thru Tallarook. Yea - Tallarook road is also good.
What other day rides from Melb deserve a mention?
Other cities should also give there best riding roads out of town.

Some decent roads down around Mornington Peninsula.....Down Peninsula Link, up and over Arthurs Seat through to Merricks and/or Flinders.  On to Portsea pub for a good feed, then back to Sorrento Ferry across to Queenscliff for a full loop back to Melbourne. Portsea pub during summer a good optic nerve!

Melbourne does pull out some nice days.  Its rare but it happens ok.  Yesterday was beautiful and if I didn't have to work I would have been out riding too.  Anyway,  a short little ride I like doing occasionally is,   up through Whittlesea and on to Kinglake West and follow the Yea Road to Flowerdale pub.  Have a quick rest and then turn left down through Strath Creek and follow the road onto Broadford.  There is some straight bits but some twisties as well.   Keep travelling along and you'll pass the Broadford Motorcycle/Motorsports track and then just after that,  the Hume Highway.  I usually turn left onto the Hume and head back home.  Around a 200 kay trip.  Not bad if you just want to get out of the house.

You need to get interstate a bit if you want nice days back to back to back....maybe the lovely state of Qld...

I visit my sister regularly on the “sunshine coast” and ironically it’s always raining.  385mm in 18 hours once.  That’s half of Melbourne’s annual rainfall!!!  That’s crazy rain

Sure was HOG63, unfortunately I got stuck into fitting a cruise control on the fatty while still cold in morning. Bluddy phukin' thing......engine light come on, had myself googling how to get fault codes, what they meant and how to reset em. Turns out i shoulda read the destruction sheet and pulled fuse first and i wouldn't of created any of em.......Fancy thet eh! A good days riding lost ffs

Yeah, I'm the same - if I'm out in the car with the wife on a windy road on a sunny day & a bike roars past me, I'm secretly thinking "that should be me".

I live in Mornington, got the bike out Sunday morning, red hill and all through there crawling with highway patrol saw 3 in 15 mins.. said fuckit and went home. Police motorcycle harassment is out of control down here.

Great photo Mickle.   I've ridden that road too.  Awesome.  Have stopped at the Whitfield pub for a beer too (great outdoor seating area - beer garden).

They were busy harassing others on that day but yeah in dec got pulled twice in about 2kms, both cases the guys booked me for bullshit, kept on the side of the rd 20-30 mins each
‘Mate I just got through this with the other guy’, ‘yep don’t care, we’re doing it again’
