Hi ralphski you’ve got me wondering about my 110. Do you have any specific issues with the HD system?

running the DK external kit on my 110, routes to a horse shoe type with a breather.

If you keep oil level in check, the filter just needs a clean out every service.

as mentioned above DK Customs have heaps of options. I modified my S&S air filter by drilling and tapping as pictured and ran lines to a Golan catch can. Worked out pretty cheap and keeps oil out of my intake. Really depends on what air filter you're running though, some would be much easier than others.

You can do a lot to improve the system and make it far more efficient, but, and there is always a but, if there is an engine issue that is causing oil to be pushed out then even routing to a catch can is just a band-aid, I send mine to ground, not a drop, bit rushed tonight but can do a bit more on it if anyone wants to know.

Jeeze mate got me thinking,  so I pulled the assembly off my 2009 CVO 110, it was clean inside.
Maybe one drip of oil at the base of the throat.
    Wonder why yours is messy?

I thought the heavy breather backing plate was alloy? The one I had years ago was.

I've got mine to the side, if it really dropped its guts I guess it could still coat the rear but I'd like to think I'd be onto it before it got to that stage.

Aside from the obvious which is the umbrella valves are a service item and can be faulty you can give them a hand if you are in the top end for say rocker lockers or indeed servicing the breathers.
The drain holes in the support plate are pretty small and can be rather ugly and cause the oil to pool rather than drain, if you drill them out to 1/8" and chamfer both sides it can help a lot.

If you are going to the effort to drill and tap for external lines try and make the internal passages as big as possible, is drill out the hole in the breather bolt as much as you safely can and it's cross holes as well, then use fittings with internal bores that don't restrict that size, if you go to a Tee use a slightly larger bore on the single line, lots of ways to set this up, as long as the basics are ok then it comes down personal preference on how it looks, into a can or to ground is up to the individual, if you drag race at the strip you will need a can, legalities.
I like the look of a solid line, smaller on the outside so it's less obtrusive to the eye, well at least for me.

yes GM backing plate is alloy,  the alloy is about as good as plastic.
anyway, managed to score a Mid-USA breather kit part # 84303
need to take the backing plate to work and mill down the 2 breather tubes to accommodate the fitted Mid-USA breathers.
also, need to tap out the 2 breather passages in the backing plate and plug with screws, then lock them in with 262 loctite

That'll work, but, always a but aye, if it's a dripper you will notice it.

GM, what sort of hose did you use? I like the lines of the 'set' going down to the bottom of the frame
