A mate got one of Mario's reset supertuners the other day, asked me to sort it out for him, bike had a PCV on it, someone had adjusted it for him, was still popping on decel and generally misbehaving.
It's a stage 1 96 with bigshots, no baffles and an SE stage 1 intake.
Took the PCV off and punched a cal in to marry the SuperTuner, no issues, thanks Mario, sweet as.
Two data runs later and the VE's were changing under 3%, stock bikes seem to dial in quick, no decel pop, let the clutch out and the bike pulls away on idle without issue, accelerates cleanly, smooth at steady state.
I rode it, always amazes me how much better stock bikes run with just a bit of a tweak.
He was going to change cams, I don't think he will now, moral I'm trying to get across is even a stock bike will respond to a tune up, maybe not make much more peak number wise but they are just better to ride.

Question for you. Can you tune carbed models with reasonable accuracy utilising wide band sensors hooked up to air fuel meters/LED displays? I have purchased later model header pipes with the 18mm threaded holes and was contemplating getting the sensors and meters to check my AF readings through my normal riding range.
    Cheers, Will

T4, yes you can tune carb's with a wideband. That's how I do it.
Seeing this post was about tuning fuel injection, maybe start a new post.

All good, I've not done it but as above that's how a lot do.

Thanks fellas for confirming my thoughts.

As you can see, a ways to go yet, but I'm working on it.

Hell yes!   I did exactly this to tune by turbo FXR with a 40mm Kehien.

Used a wideband O2 with a Zetronics recorder so I could do controlled test runs and record the AFR (plus rpm etc etc) and then use that to tune the various jets etc in the carb.  Works very well.

A Power Commander on a 2007 ? Shit I was pulling them from 2007's 8 years ago as they started to fuck up.

Double the number of male/female connectors to corrode the problem as much as anything.

They ALL ran better with a stage 1 reflash. Old original SERT / TTS / Supertuner Pro. All 3 worked well

Back in 2007 even the WA Harley dealers were fitting Power Commanders as normal practice !

Some of them brutalising the O2 sensors by cutting and joining the wiring harnesses to the same ?

WTF ? Why would you do that ? Imagine trying to retro-fix that abortion !

I hear ya mate, harness hacking is a nightmare down the track.
I get a kick out of helping a mate get his pride and joy running half decent Retro, we both know that don't mean it's tuned to perfection but it's a vast improvement to what it was.
