Hi guys, I ride a 07 heritage and love it, having issues with a rear tire so I thought I would ask the classic question, what do you all suggest
I had and have a continental whitewall but have only got a few thou on it and it’s rooted so do I go back to a Dunlop 402 or a commander or Metz, all suggestions are welcome

Not sure if best for your bike but I prefer Michelin over Dunlop.

Avons are the best I've tried yet, may not get the best kms but give great confidence wet or dry.

Anyone put Metzelers on their ride?
I'm looking at Metzelers, putting 120/70ZR19 ME880 on the front and a 240/40VR18 ME880 on the back.
    Bikes a Vrod Muscle thoughts?

switched to ME880's on my Dyna back in the US (from Dunlop) and loved them, much better in the wet (a lot of that in Seattle!) and seemed to wear pretty well.

I’m in the market for new tyres, Metzeler coincidentally, and have been looking at the Me888 which from what I read is an updated version of the 880 and is really worth looking into.

well i spose u could just scroll tussock  : ) .... as for me i posted a pic of my front tyre as to me it looks a bit perished ... and feels hard as fk so i guess i probably need to change them ..not sure of the mileage on them as i only just bought the bike , anyway im tossing up between the michelin commander ll    -  pirelli night dragons .. or the dunlop american elites .
as the current tyres on it are dunlops that kind of makes me wary of putting them back on but they do get pretty good reveiws.
then i read about the pirelli night dragons .. guy fitted them and had the wobbles over 70mph .. harley qouted him as saying the side wall arent up to the weight.. but im wondering if they were the gt touring version.
so .. as boring as i know tyre threads can be , manufactures do bring out new ones so its always handy to be updated with reviews etc. not exactly cheap are they : /

I see the tyre condition and had a call from Mosses asking for his tyres back!!!! (I had a mate years go that would  buy a tyre and leave it on top of his shed for 12-18 months to 'harden' up; interesting theory until we found him one day off the road on a sweeper corner dead as.  He rode hard and a buggered tyre did not help matters)

If in doubt replace.  I like Night Dragons as they are a good all year tyre and do well in the hot summers and wet winters here in Melbourne.  They still let loose like any tyre will but I find them predictable and controllable when they do, which is normally a direct response to my riding anyway..lol

You will find horror stories about EVERY brand of tyre if you look long enough (Worried about the Dealer comment though and if it was me I'd steer clear of them for ANY advice).  The KEY thing is to settle on one brand and then you get to 'know' each other over the years so you understand the limits etc.

I've always gone with Metzelers and never had any complaints. Looking forward to wearing out my dunlops a bit more and upgrading.

all good mate .. i opted for the michelin commander ll in the end ... bit hard to say how much better they are till i scrub them in ... to be honest the dunlops rode fairly okand had plenty of tread left but just didnt like the look of those cracks at all ... so peace of mind was the order of the day ... HOWEVER ! .. after having them fitted and riding off i noticed something different kind of sound wise .. and hard to pin point where its coming from.. kind of like something like a brake disc chaffe noise and only whilst moving .. i did feel the brakes were all kind of fkd up for a few moments initially but seem ok now ..wether its a pad rubbing .. or he has overtightened something blah blah im not quite sure .. did take it back but he couldnt see anything .. so i said i would ride a few days and keep eye/ ear out and see if it settled back down again ... Hmmmmmm !

If you liked Dunlops you'll like anything

I got great mileage from the Commanders 2s Like double all other brands.

    Be careful in the wet.

Thats the tradeoff isnt it as longer mileage is generally a factor of a harder tyre compound.  I guess that would suit say a tourer style bike, but for a nimble Sporty being thrown around and braked hard my preference is for something softer/stickier, albeit at the cost of a shorter life.  I'll easily go through 1 and 1/2 tyres each year.
