Leave her home in front of the stove. You'll need a hot meal when you get back from your ride. Cheers.  :)

its all good : ) .. as for me , i wear a couple of different jackets but to be honest my dririder jacket is pretty shite as far as comfort goes and rides up my back when i have all the liners in .. i have a quicksilver jacket that is epically warm but no protection at all but its not about me so i will leave me out of it .. i dont like riding with the the wife without her being fully protected, she has an ixon jacket but its more a summer one with no liners but has reasonable protection .. the problem is she has very low blood pressure and feels the cold more than most , i just bought myself a flanny thinking it would be reasonably warm but nah so i dont want to spend a lot of time in shops trying shit on and buying it to find out its not as good as i though.. hence why i ask for recomendations .. so basically something really warm , with decent protection thats not gonna break the bank.

    Hey Wello,

the missus rides and really feels the cold and it can get fairly chilly here in the deep south. She always wears a long sleeved thermal top underneath, she's got a cheap one and a dearer one and she says they both have similar warmth. The dearer one is trendier so she can wear it with nothing over the top if it warms up. The cheaper one looks like grannys undergarments if you know what I mean. She always layers, usually a woollen jumper over the thermal, or two if they're thin. Over that she wears an unlined leather jacket for heavier protection (starting to sound like a tampon ad?). She never rides without a scarf or neckmate.  On the bottom half she wears kevlar lined denim and on the coldest days thermal longjohns underneath with wooly work socks. She still gets cold but is happy to ride most times of the year.

    Hope this helps.

    Roo.

That pic looks suspiciously like an engine room Wello, not a fellow marine engineer are you ?
As to a good jacket, I agree with using layers underneath, in NZ they have possium/wool blends that are very light and thin, but very warm, failing that good wool and a thermal Spencer (woman's under garment vest) should work Ok.
Plus she can hide behind you to get out of the wind ??

ur warm but not quite lol .. thats my workshop offshore on a drilling rig .. boilermaker/welder : ).
as for the jacket , i did end up getting her one that shes happy with.. little on the bulky side but better to have a bit more than not enough protection.
will be doing the wild west tour next year so she wil end up with an eaglerider jacket as well  : )

Oops indead, the emails and paperwork will be flying for sure.
It just cracked 52 degrees C in our little play house today, and we are still about 8 days away from Darwin :(
I have never been in such a hot engine room, even the old steamships were not this bad.

I have some pics of the rig in tow on the phone, but have to resize them to post here. Try and find time tomorrow.
