Long time lurker, figured I better say g'day after RatBobs impassioned plea, lol.
I recently bought a 2017 Road King in Billet Silver, I debated a long time on buying Harley since I've always been a sports bike kinda guy.
Was gunna get a SportGlide but seeing it in the flesh compared to a Touring it just looked kinda dainty (no offence SG owners) it was always going to be a touring for me,
I wanted a special and tossed between the RK and Street glide, I just couldn't go for the all black look, too many all look the same so when I saw this one in silver I jumped on it.

I just traded my 17 Kawasaki ZX14R and wasn't too sure how i'd feel riding an armchair, feels grouse m8's, don't think i've ever had to fill the tank so often.
Not that it uses too much fuel, I just can't keep off the damn thing, may have something to do with the fact I moved to Brissie from Melbourne 6 months ago too.

Sunny days, gr8 roads, comfy bike with a killer soundtrack, it doesn't get much better, even the missus is happy to get on the back again (I thought she was scarred for life after experiencing the pillion death pad of an Aprillia I had awhiles back :-)

Safe to say the RK doesn't heel over as far as i'm used to and i've scraped the shit outta my floorboards, pipes and primary but what the hey,
there was always gunna be a bit of  culture shock making the change.
I can say I now totally love the ride position and just hammering along at semi legal speeds through a nice twisty section is so freakin satisfying in a way the fast homogenous bikes can never be.

FWIW i'm 55 and have ridden all my life since Victa powered GrandPrix minibikes at age 5, before about 20 years of racing dirt bikes and owning just about every road bike marque under the sun. I've loved em all and to all my mates that say I finally retired and bought a grandpa bike, go and get f#ked, ya don't know what your missing, I should have done it 30 years sooner.

    cheers M8's

Thanks Bigfella and Humbug, appreciate the welcome.
@paulybronco, I had a cota 247 back in the day, sexy bike. I remember ogling all the new bikes at Lyall O'Briens shop in Pako West Geelong as a kid and watching the open class races at Barrabool, all the Cappra's, Ossa's and Maico's, so definitely showing my age.
By coincidence I ended up leasing Lyall's old factory and getting a bit of vintage merch he left behind. This is a pic of the factory, 70's commie Spain it's been on my garage wall for about 30 years.

Thanks Rb, Baloff and imoo, good to be here.
The bikes a cracker, pictures don't do it justice, I'm just paying a bit of extra Harley tax though.
The bike is fitted with 4.5" S&S slip ons and high flow filter and just ordered a Danny Gray solo Airhawks.
I think it seems to run a bit lean, few pops on decelerations but on Saturday after about an hours riding it got a bad case of marbles in the pipes so Sunday, I bought a lift and changed the plugs.
It was a nice bonding session to undress her, after I ripped her tank and panniers off I got a good look inside and screwed her plugs out.

Crikey that didn't sound right ;-)  Anyway the old champions looked shagged, gap was nearly 1mm, definately looks lean from the plugs.
I swapped them for the NGK Iridiums, gapped to 0.8 and running great today with no signs of it under load now.

@PB, yeh it's worth sharing that poster, not something you see everyday. I know it's off topic and should have thrown it up in "Other Bikes"
I'll start another thread to waffle on about the bike.

Enjoying reading some of your old posts and banter, good crew one and all. cheers S64
