I’m on day 6 of the flu.  Mate it is horrible.  My wife, 3 kids and my mum and dad all have it at the moment. None of us have been to the dr yet (I’m going tomorrow) so that figure of 42000 this year is not accurate as most cases aren’t reported.  I reckon it would be much higher.  My daughters school class had 12 kids off with the flu just over a week ago.  I’ve never seen anything like this!!!

Does no-one get the flu jab anymore?  I have had one for the past 10 years with no problems, although I'm getting to be an old fart so the flu would have a big impact upon me if I got it I suspect.

I had the flu this year which stuffed me up for two weeks. Test confirmed Influenza A and a chest virus to boot. I had the flu jab six weeks previous and things would have been worse without it. I'm not in the danger demographic for dying because of flu but it's serious for those that are.

You have a miserable existence and it's all the worse if you can't stop to rest and recover. Mine was prolonged because of that. Hated it.

Now nearly four weeks later, most days I still recall how sick I felt and am grateful for feeling better. It's almost like getting over a bad hangover each day.

I'm taking vitamin c and sucking down citrus where I can.

Problem is there’s no real way to avoid it. Last year in I copped Influenza A, H2N3 and double pneumonia at the same time.
Broke two ribs from coughing, head felt like it was gonna explode, it took about ten weeks to recover and the worst part, as I’m retired, no fucking sick leave.

Had pneumonia earlier this year. I would hate to go through that again.

Have been lucky this year with a flu jab, no sign of the bad one, just a coupla hangers on for a few days, then they  fucked off. Sp'ose just like relatives coming to stay.
Hey RB. don't it suck, no sick leave for retirees!
Reckon we should sign a petition for that.
Few years ago had my paid sick leave for 10 months, then ran out of sick leave,  so used long service for the last month. 11 months off.
Last year had the mystery thing, 10 days in bed, and every single day lost a kilo, so ,lost fucken 10 kilos. No prob, but an unknown diagnosis by the three doctors went to, bloody quacks..
    Ahh no biggie, still ere.
