Oldest grandchild is now 15,  he has been riding since he could touch pegs properly and he has a good back rest, Gloves, Fitting full face,
leather jacket, Dirt bike boots, and draggin jeans.  He has done 4 toy runs, some local rides and also traveled out of state to do a charity ride with patched club.
And now he is starting to loose interest as he wants his own road bike, His mother (my daughter) and step dad both have 2 bikes each ( a pr of ninja,s and also a Harley each)
The good news is my granddaughter has just been able to touch the pegs !!!!     cheers.

Aside from the obvious (proper gear, fret reach pegs, and short trips away from crazy traffic and high speed) there is also the Oxford Riders Grips. They fit around the waist and have handles the kid can grip. My 7.5 yr old is solid as a rock gripping them. They were suggested to me by Bucky last year. Fantastic.
PS: does not alter the exes absolute disdain

My daughter now 18. When up on my mates farm she always jumps on the back of the farm bike with me.
Recently bought a heritage 114. She's keen to go on longer rides so I kitted out with a new full face helmet, gloves and kevlar jeans. She's wearing her mum's old leather jacket and boots. I also fitted the bike with a passenger backrest.

Her mum used to ride with me all over but she's a bit nervous about it. I am also but my thought is that motorcycling is such an enjoyable experience it's not fair to keep her from it. You cant wrap them up in cotton wool.

She also eventually wants her own bike but that'll be a challenge to get past mum.

I've only had the heritage a few weeks and wanted to get comfortable with it before we go. The weather hasn't been great lately but fingers crossed for this weekend.

I wonder where her fascination for bikes came from...??

    What about Mums riding pillion?
Last time my dear old Mum (she was in London during the Blitz) came here to visit I took her up to the Mona museum of art for an outing on the back of my stage 4 FXST. It's about a 40 minute ride from my place.
She was not the best of passengers, seemed a tad nervous but it was a great day out. Not many people get to walk along "The Wall of Vaginas" with their mum.

Back in the 80s I gave mum a ride to work. She had never been on the bike before. I had a Kawasaki LTD400 ( cruiser version of the KZ400). Poor mum was hanging on for dear life. Quite an exhilarating experience for her. She was a bit frazzled by the time she arrived at work ( I was riding carefully). We still laughed about many years later.

I can relate to that.  Back in the 90s  my brother needed a lift to work. We were living in Coogee but he had to get to Chatswood.
I was riding a Kawasaki 1000 RX at the time and we jumped on the bike and I let loose in the Sydney Harbour Tunnel.
Got him to work on time.
