    Guys and girls,
Jumped through the various hoops without a satisfactory outcome from dealer and HD au,
As of today, Fair Trading are dealing with "them".
At one level, the denial of warranty, blaming me, dealer failing to complete the job and probably the worst of the lot, the dealer scratching the rims, forks and spokes ( prob why they did not address the other areas of corrosion!)  is hard to believe, but at another, not really

As we guessed HD australia not interested. This was my response to HD au . I have taken the liberty of removing HD s representative name and the dealers name out of paranoia
"Dear X ( read HD rep)
    this is unsatisfactory.
Did  Y ( read dealer principal name) forward my email and photos ( post his attempted corrosion treatment - removal )?
You have not addressed any of the multiple issues I have raised.
I do not intend to repeat them to you.
I do not intend to respond to your comments as they are the same ones I took issue with Y  over.
The bike has now been damaged through scratching by Y's firm's removal of corrosion.
It is fascinating that HD / you support this practice of dealership's damaging bikes through the dealerships service .
I have passed it to Fair Trading.
    kind regards

That ad looks way too good to be true to me SB.
Just like "this is what you get when you buy a Big Mac"

SB, that spray looks way easier and cheaper than HD 's  products the  dealer sent me last week after they sent my bike back to me.
The HD vid , without  time lapse looks like it would take me 120 mins after every ride to clean /detail my bike and , that's without their bikes having bare metal .

    HD could patent that product.

There will be more episodes next week of what I think are  amusing comments emailed to me by the dealer  and HD s man.

    Got spread the laughter out

The more I read and hear - the more I am never gunna sell my 96 EVO Heritage. The frame still shines, the chrome and paint are perfect. Zero rust and it sill looks new. Quality dies post the 90's EVO's. Cant be too hard on HD though - post the 90's quality was a small consideration with all brands.

Oileak  , yep the bling quality died a few years ago . I still love my bike . Can’t beat the look , the sound and the torque. I m Not giving HD  any slack though . Poor quality was one thing . Then for HD au to say their dealer has  done a great job for me and I should be thankful the dealer tried to remove the widespread corrosion (on a brand new 2018 3800 km bike )  is shite IMHO given the scratches etc they left

Hey Scuzz, it might be time to clean your pic up and let everyone see the shop that is treating you with disdain and contempt.

I wouldn’t. I think it’s against forum owner rules. (Not mine)
Edit: can’t find it written down but don’t want to leave site owner open to being sued.

Sadly , I can’t clean the picky up for fear of libel . I can however say the dealer has complaints against him on a review site ( including some poor guys engine blew up on a brand new 18 model 150 km after purchase and the dealer denied liability ).

I can say I have an official email from HD au fully supporting the dealers treatment of my bike through the whole process.

And I don’t want the site to have problems with HD , or just be a site for complaining . I m hoping my postings  will help others who run into warranty issues and that it helps them follow a process to get some resolution. The process being:
    - always communicate in writing
    - take time
    - move it up the chain
    - check with fair trading. Follow their advice, not Harley’s .
    - know the process will take time . Don’t give up
    - don’t get angry , keep breathing and ride hard ( keep your humour )

Hey SCUZZ, all good advice there, make sure you take your own advice and keep spirits high and you will see it through.
You sound like a man with integrity - you're doing the right thing.

Thanks Pauly Bronco and wide glide.
It was a wide glide that got me addicted in 2015/6.
I hired one for a day and had a great time cruising through the hills with mates.
Then they discontinued the wide glide range when my wife  finally said after 12 months of me raising Harley Davidson's,
    " alright , go get a Harley".
She got sick of my 11 y old saying to her
" mum , he 's looking at bikes again" when my 11 y old would go on the PC and I had left pages of HD bikes open (bike sales, auction sites, pimped up bike photo's etc)

Yep my 93 Evo is staying with me. SCUZZ sorry for all the trouble you are having not a good feeling for a first time Harley owner. A friend of mine owns a 2018 Low Rider he has had two sets of fork sliders replaced so far and now looking for a third set the finish on them is disgusting. The quality of Harley has turned to shit and if Harley doesn't do something about it I can see a lot of loyal customers leaving this brand.

Thanks Choco. Yes, sadly for new HD owners , poor quality control is not a once off. Which would be ok if HD central looked after ALL of their customers. I too had a mate who had his wideglide front forks replaced under warranty. I suspect they have dug their heels in with me because almost all the bling is corroded. As I've said before , lucky for me it s still rideable and I guess I have to be lucky they fixed the top end oil leak (told me various things from O ring to head gasket . Given up on trying to find out what really caused the leak !)

    Quick update guys.
Took the bike for it's first ride since the dealer replaced the rusted mirrors.  I've been working away for a month.
A mirror  vibrated loose after 2 km and it started spinning on it's axis whilst I was riding along.
The mirror did not have a spring washer ( nut was loose)
Initially I did'nt know what the F was going on.

Sent an email about this shoddy service to the dealer in SE QLD copied in to Harley central Sydney ( from where I had previously received emails from a Harley person about the rust warranty)

Low and behold, Harley central no longer want written documentation. See below.
    H-DCUSTOMERSERVICE@HARLEY-DAVIDSON.COM
sent me the  email response of

"THIS IS TO LET YOU KNOW THAT WE CANNOT PROCESS YOUR EMAIL.
If you wish to contact us, please call Harley-Davidson at (414) 343-4056 or 1-800-258-2464.
Please do not reply to this automatic message as your response will not be processed".

What is going on with HD when service s like this exists.

There comes a time when you have to consider giving up on any reasonable expectation of good faith and service from those businesses in Australia you have tried to resolve this with.
If it was me I'd be at that point now and wouldn't waste further time and energy with the dealer or harley Australia.

I'd only invest time in whichever consumer protection authority has responsibility for this in your state/Territory, harley USA or the media. Media ought to be the absolute last resort.

I liked the idea mentioned previously where you refuse to collect your bike when it's in being assessed/repaired and keep the loan bike until you're satisfied. Tactically clever in my view but unfortunately that opportunity has passed for you.

I wish you all the best mate. Keep fighting
