I don’t know why, but I did...hoping it won’t be too bad! I just had a set of V&H hi-output grenades delivered, will be putting them on in October to see how they go, hopefully they’ll be less loud than the V&H BR’s I have? I’ve ordered the quiet baffles for them in case, not that the quiet baffles in the BR made any fuckin difference!

    Any feedback on these?

Hi Muzza, does this mean you’ve packed up the Jekkyl and Hyde exhaust project?
Interesting to think an exhaust named grenade could be quiet !
I too gave up trying to quiet the BR 2-2 so I’m moving to the BR 2-1. Cam, pipes, tune hopefully done soon.
I look forward to hearing how the grenades turned out for you.

Hi rat, no not at all, problem is where I live there are no distributor/installers. A friend of mine sent his bike to Germany, had it done and then did a bit of a tour around Europe and then brought his bike back, but it cost him more than a few bob.
To be very honest, my wife took very ill on the 27th Feb and has been touch and go since then so not much has happened in the mean time other than a bit of depression buying.....um the grenades......

The local dealer has promised me two sets of softtail pipes when the riding season comes up again in October, plus I have the option of the akrapovic (spelling?) inserts, and if I like the grenades then chopping the BR’s is not gonna be that painful. I guess if the grenades are too loud, they might be an easier option to chop than the BR given that they are straight pipes.

Got a few options now, just need time......I am still determined to quieted down at least one set of good looking pipes before I cough up for the Jekyll & Hyde or Kesstech options.

I was thinking that with two second hand pipes, I could install the flapper in the bottom stock pipe and see if it works with the FP3, and I’ll use my wife’s bike, cos we haven’t got off our arses yet to sell it! And if the stock servo is able to drive both flapper valves then I might be on to something. If not, then I could try the Akropvic inserts on the stockers and see how that works, except the akropovics are manually driven, I wanted electronic preferably. Let’s see, I’ll be sure to keep the forum updated if and when progress is made, for those that are interested.

    Cheers

Finally managed to find time to remove the V&H BR and install the V&H Hi-output Grenades. Had to take the Dremel tool to the internal welds of the baffle housings and the ends of the header pipes to get the cans on, but was an easy enough job. I think they look good and different! They are waaaaay louder than the BR’s with a deeper tone. I uploaded the map for the Grenades from the V&H website via my FP3 and I must say that the bike runs very smoothly, better than I could ever get it to run on the BR’s. Next step will be to swop the standard baffles for the quiet baffles, but if my experience doing the same on the BR’s is anything to go by, I am not expecting much of a difference, if any to be honest! I am guessing I will prob end up with the Kesstech or Jekyll and Hyde systems after all this! I have had zero time to even visit my project that involves installing the Akropovic flapper valve system in to the BR’s but the Grenades might be an easier option given they don’t have a radius and follow a much straighter line, I’ll see. For those that are interested, I’ve uploaded a couple of pics for you to review, criticise and perhaps enjoy!
Thank you for all your wishes of health to my wife, she is still not doing well, it’s been a year now and I’m still feeding her via a Hickman line and infusion pumps 12/7!
I still haven’t got around to even advertising her Fatboy Lo, I guess my heart is telling my mind that she will get back on it one day, but I’m not hell of a sure about that, in moments of clarity, I’m positive that she won’t be cruising down the highway anytime again in the future.

    Hi Muzza
Thanks for the update, I had been wondering. As a fellow carer all we can do is take it day by day, sure ain’t easy.
As for the Grenades they suit your bike well, nice looking machine.
While I’m not familiar the Grenades internal construction and the opportunity to insert an additional baffle, a mate inserted these Khromewerks baffles into his drag pipes and they sound quite good.

You can cut them to length.
Like you I gave up with the VH BR2-2 and recently fitted the VH BR 2-1. Kept the bendy look but way quieter/deeper sound and seem to perform better.

Thanks again for the update, I’ll keep watching for anything on the Kesstech project. Cheers

Ratbob ,I've been thinking of ditching the BR2-2's as well for the BR 2-1, you sound happy enough with them?

2-2 just getting too fucking noisy, must be getting old!

I don’t mind the BR 2-2 on some bikes but on my 110 it was obnoxious.  They sound fine on a mates 96. The BR 2-1 has a deeper quieter idle and strangely sounds more lumpy than the 2-2. I.e. it highlights the 255 cam more. But, it still barks on throttle. While I haven’t put it on a Dyno, torque feels stronger. They certainly have a deeper note overall.
    Cheers.
