changed many oil filters over the years, and never had a problem.
on the 3 occasions that HD dealers have serviced my bikes, ALL over fckn tighten oil filters.
Hoody had trouble removing one on my 110B when re-built.
while riding around Tassie had a service done at Hobart, spent about 1/2 hour to re-move one today.
    FINGER FCKN TIGHT
    sorry, just whinging

When I was mining you would come across filters that were so tight it wasn't funny, I made up a strap type like this one in the picture but more of a heavy duty construction, drive it with a long handled ratchet or a breaker bar, if that didn't work it was butchery time. They are good and you can get them on the Harley filter, will get 99.9% of the buggas.

I have the exact same strap. Great to fit a ratchet, only use it to remove an oil filter - not to install one (just hand-tighten).

On bikes with stock ABS tight filters can be a real concern. No room to come from the front on them so you HAVE to come from the side.

I have 2 of the Genuine Harley oil filter removal tools , with the slot/cutaway that saves the alternator plug from damage.

I have seen them "round" on tight filters before, then it is on with the socket and long extension driven strap like it Grease Monkeys photo above.

On non ABS bikes you can chisel/screwdriver right thru the fuckers from the front , but it is till brutal and you have to be careful.

And yes , most often after they have been at the HD dealer previously to coming to me.
