Obviously have to get used to the choke and get another seat to replace the dentist chair that is on it.

I WILL keep the seat for a future curiosity.
It is buggered though, the plastic base is cracked in multiple places. You could get it plastic welded if you wanted to use it but it is the wrong type of seat for me. Also not a fan of sissy bars.

    .

The white patch where my lower finger is placed is a result of the hit the seat must have taken, I presume the same hit that bent the front rim. Look what it did to the rear fender.

Anyway the frame is not bent as far as my first test ride could tell and a mate has loaned me a seat till my new Lepera cobra turns up.

Realised also that the brake light is stuck on all the time, so have ordered a handlebar switch for it. Hoping that won't be as big a deal to replace as the one on my twin cam.

Nice one fc, sure you would have been stoked with the way it fired up after 15 years.

    Gotta love that idle.

Sounds great mate! Did they end up finding import paperwork for you? That was the only thing that stopped me from buying it.

    No paperwork was found.
The bright side of things is that no paperwork is needed if the bike is over 30 years old, just a receipt of sale.

Now have the bike registered on "Special Interest" rego. Which means you are limited to 150 rides per year but the upside is the rego is less than 200 bucks a year.
New seat has turned up and fitted, also ditched the sissy bar.
Put new intake manifold rubbers on it the other day as it was still a bit spluttery idling when cold. They helped a bit  but think I need to make a few more carby adjustments to get it spot on. It runs like a charm once up and running down the highway though and handles remarkably well.
Went for a ride with the missus last weekend and let her ride it the 60 odd klms home. She had never ridden a HD before and her first words after were, "That is so cool, I want one".
I followed on her Triumph bobber and noticed the rear belt sprocket was not turning perfectly true. Not bad enough to warrant an instant replacement but if the drive belt ever fails I reckon I'd replace the sprocket then. Bit of a lightbulb moment too thinking back to how tricky it was to align the back wheel after a new tyre. You align these ones via the sprocket and belt.
Initially thought it was top priority to get rid of the handlebars but starting to get used to them so they are staying for now.
This is how it looks now.
Pretty happy with it would be  minor understatement.
