Has anyone tried Finnmoto Hard Saddlebags with quick detachable brackets. Looking for something to carry my shit that doesn't look too bad. Original Harley .are a bit pricey.
Any feedback appreciated. To fit my Softail Custom

Great little business. Used his on / off brackets to retro fit soft / hard bags on my Deuce.

I can't comment on their saddle bags. They look good and are fairly priced. but I don't recommend their brackets. I have bought 2 sets from them. One for my old bike and one for my current. I definitely do not reccomend them. They stick out a bit too far and rattle heaps. The holes were for the attachment keepers were about 2mm out each side leaving me unable to attach them until I trimmed it up with a dremel on my current bike. The fitment was better on my old bike (no grinding was required) but the rattling was just as bad either way. I put up with it for a few years but then the internal locking mechanism seized and I had to break them in order to remove them. I ended up leaving them on permanently on my old bike as they were seized too. If you don't ride in the rain they may last longer though. For the price you pay for brackets, bags and shipping they're not too far off the harley bag cost in my opinion. That's what I ended up doing and have no regrets. I only wish that I did this earlier before wasting money on these brackets and 2 sets of aftermarket bags that failed

Hi B. Sorry you had issues with the FM stuff. Did you ever follow up with Matt the owner?

Hi steelo. Nah never followed up. There was no issue with the shop or the owner. It's just the design of these brackets that sucks. Good in concept but not in reality. I was aware of the issues with the brackets before I purchased my second set so I didn't think it was fair to complain to the bloke about it

No worries B. I'm sure he would have been accommodating if you had let him know.
FWIW, removable bags are never going to be the quiet option fixed bags are and you pay a little (cost and convenience) of having that option. I use mine only for trips and they work a treat. I'm not aware of the excessive rattling noise but you are right, they do seem to stick out from the bike. I'm sure it's because they need room for a key lock mechanism between the bike and the bags. AND it is a peculiar process to slot the bags onto the key ways to seat them correctly. I thought I would get the optional leather handle and simply off the bags and carry them wherever like a suitcase but it wasn't that easy. I ended up with removable shopping bags inside and that was better by far. I'll find some pics.

    Ok.
Sorry to hear you were not happy with them.
Been really happy with the set I bought maybe 8 years ago, they fit straight on don't make any noise, locks still work fine after riding in all weather conditions.
I like how you can attach pretty much any sort of bag (not throw-overs) to them, even just a lunch box if that's what you want.
Sometimes it is a good idea to make some sort of a firm backing plate for the inside of the bags you are putting on, I used some 3 or 4mm aluminium and it works well.
