Met early morning fog in Canberra as ventured out to seek out the local HD Dealer then spend the rest of the day at the War Museum [main reason for the trip]. I run the rig with a Go-Pro and a mobile phone mount...the funny thing is I'm Old School...dont use the phone for directions. Left the Hotel in foggy conditions try to locate the dealer from memory, 2 lefts, 3 rights etc. Suffice to say that didnt work, pulled over at another Macca's for coffee and a bunger....chatted with a local...I was one block away!..lol. Spent the rest of the day at the AWM....then had to choose dinner, being a red wine fan....anyway the pics tell the the story...and the food was great as well! When your solo on a bike, weather forecasts are your best friend, there was a low pressure system heading toward Canberra the next day, so I left the following morning [snowed in Canberra on the Friday]...for Goulburn. Quick fuel and coffee stop then off to Bathurst...that section of road is some of the best roads I've ridden, through the Wind-Farms at Crookwell and North. Made Bathurst [did a lap] was low on fuel, lunch and fuel stop..then a map check [the folding type]...thought Id make Scone via Mudgee....well that didnt happen..It's fuckin Winter, the sun goes down earlier...lol. After dodging road kill [wombats..fuck how big are they?...and nearly being takin out by a chic overtaking a B-Double uphill..wtf.]. I made a little place called Merriwa [thats a complete story in itself..lol]. Anyway left the next morning via a short cut given by locals to get back on the New England Highway at Willow tree.....nice twisties on the way up the range! Never have I been so shit scared on a bike, got to the top of range and there were roadworks for 5 k's on the downhill side, just wet clay! No way was I braking, just first gear all the way down...and feet out! The guys doing the work must have thought..who's this Dickhead on a Breakout with a 260mm rear Tyre??? 850klms straight home!!
