Yep it’s no joke to come out from wherever and find your lid gone , specially if ur miles from home , I only leave mine on my bike if it’s in my sight .. rode out to Lancelin the other day .. around a dozen bikes ( Harley’s) all sitting the with lids perched somewhere on the bike .. some pretty expensive ones to .. and all the guys where sitting out the back of the pub ! .. only takes a minute for someone to grab one and be off with it , several of them had Comms on as well .

My son had his lid and gloves stolen from his bike (but it was a CBR250).
I have not heard of anyone stealing a lid from a Harley and have always assumed it would be part of a death wish by the stealer. this was certainly true a few years back before harleys became socially accepable though.

If you get one, i thing even a simple 'U' bolt style with nuts etc would work well. After all your stopping the 'oppertunist' thief who needs to be in and out very fast, so even a simple lock would stop them.

I have used a small padlock in the past for my lids and just locked the chin strap steel bit to the mirror stem - its quick and cannot be taken as they need to remove the mirror and also sit over the mirror like normal storage.

Helmet locks.Ha I say. Years ago on new Z1, locked brand new top if the range, helmet on the helmet lock thingo. Guess what, some arseole came along and cut the fucken strap, so he could get my helmet -the cunt.

Always hung my helmet on the bike. Always will. Never had a problem. Except for the time a huntsman spider crawled over my face.

I place it over a mirror or over the brake pedal. Never have used a helmet lock in 40 years of riding.
In my travels have stopped & left the bike in some dodgy neighbourhoods, helmet is always there when I return, perhaps that says more about my average-looking helmets.

Harley sell a helmet lock. Attaches to frame.
I find mine and take a picture.
I used to use a locking bike chain and thread it through the face opening. That got old quick so now I either hang it on the brake lever, gear shift or sit it on the passenger seat. (Ultra) stopped worrying about it being flogged

Thats the thing Soapy, ya stuck in the middle of bumfuck, with no lid, no mo shop near, with a far ride to whereya head goes down, who do ya call?
Reackon we all dont mind riding with no lid in order to get home, and it always has that feeling of total freedom, so I'm told, but with some cops just itching to get ya number, and what would the fine for that one be?
I normally carry lid if crowded, dodgy area.

Once had a bottle of Bourbon stolen from my bike outside the Margaret River hotel, they did not take the helmet.
Pretty pissed off about the bourbon though.

Got me thinking now?
I bought two helmet locks when overseas which are compact but come with a long, thin steel cable.
Seemed clever at the time but a tangly, fiddly mess to use

Being a sparky I could just make a loop of sizable scrap cable just long enough to go through the full
face opening, lug each end & secure it with a padlock. Not every, opportunist helmet thief carries bolt
or cable cutters. (lilhog).

Have thin computer security cables with a lock incorperated in them, not the cabling with the T piece that hooks into computer. So could use them I spose, but ya know I'm over helmet hooking anyway, think I might just carry as always do. When shopping I put food in helmet, when she full thats enough tucker.

Not all good news:

1/ it's not a standard fitment but of course HD will sell you one.
2/ you have to fit an engine bar which it bolts onto.
3/ from the reviews on the website they aren't very good.
