There is a complete crate motor, and then there is the kit.

Reports are around $7k USD for crate motor

Quoting tussuck on 20 Jan 2020 02:50 AM

Wow....$7k (and I rpresume that does not include installation)

At the cost a Procharger or Turbo would probabley be a better deal. (mind its not like I'm ever going to drop that sort of cash on a motor!  be nice to have the pocket change to be able to though)

Quoting paulybronco on 20 Jan 2020 03:15 AM

I also would not drop that sort of coin but its really not bad value considering what you get along with the added performance

131 M8 CRATE MOTOR IS LEGAL IN THE STATES EXCEPT CALIFORNIA. i BELEIVE IS IS STILL BEING WORKED OUT WITH GOV HERE IF THESE MOTOR CAN BE FITTED AS A LEGAL MOTOR UNLIKE TWIN CAM 120R OFF ROAD USE ONLY. ALSO IF FITTED ON A NEW BIKE WILL HAVE THE 2 YEARS WARRANT AND THE EXTRAS ALSO LIKE THROTTLE BODY AND SO ON.

I wonder if bagger sales would skyrocket if they all came out with that performance off the showroom floor?.

Certainly not if you looked at the cost of the "add ons" on that bike

Well it's about time HD started adding those "ons" in the standard package.
Other brands offer similar performance(+ or - a tad) in showroom bikes.
    Innit?.

That's an interesting prospect but consider this.....a std rd glide is around 40k plus around a further 20k? in motor and bolt on bits.....and do you think the fuckers will warrant all those bits?

    Aprilla does.

But Aprilia don't make baggers or have a division that makes special extra fast bikes for customers. The short answer is if you want to do fast get something other than a HD. The new Pan America has some brand name bits on it

    Yeah, yeah I know.
Just seems funny how people buy a new HD then spend big bucks (Stage 1,2,3,4,5) trying to get more out of them.
Maybe we need Aprilla motors in Bagger(or any HD) frame conversion kits.

    Fuck Yeah!
Now that is my idea of dreaming time bike.
Love Road Glides, love that HP & torque, add ons as you know would not come std.unfortunately.
That is a beautiful looking and sounding machine.
Fucken Apillia, image saying that three times when ya pissed.
Woulda bought that if t'was around when had $.
The weight reduction, Rolling Stones colour 'Paint it BLACK', HP and go, fuck I want.
Aprillia indeed. The Aprillia motor is awesome, but, don't see many on road these days?

I think it’s pretty mild to make it emissions compliant. I’m sure it has much more potential otherwise.
Over on some of the yankee forums like harleytechtalk, these size engines are becoming more and more common. There are now even quite a lot of engines with 140+ cubic inches.

I always wanted a big cubic inch Harley and pretty happy with my 117 cubic inch dyna but not really sure that can be considered a big cubic inch Harley engine anymore.
