Hi all, its been a while since I was last on here. Last bike was a Streetglide. Anyway I now have a 2012 FXDC and I'm in the process of fitting Wideglide rims. My bike is black and I really like the black rims on the WG rims. I'm also a big fan of 21" front wheels which is why I went with the WG rims. Now to make it work i have to get a Superglide front hub laced into the front WG rim.
My question is will a 2007 SG hub work, are they  different to a 2012 SG hub in width. I've been told I have to replace the bearings but just want to know if they are different at all otherthan the bearings.

Welcome back Steve, I hope your all healed up mate.
I can't answer your question specifically, but I can let you know what I found when I tried to fit different model 21" front wheels to my 07 wide glide last year. First I tried to fit an 07 softail front wheel, bearing size was 3/4, mine was 1", no big deal I thought, wrong, not only are the bearings different, the bearing seat is machined at a different depth. Sold it and got my hands on a 05 wide glide rim, same thing 3/4 bearings with a different seat depth. This time I got the hub machined so I could use the same spacers and bearings in both wheels, I wanted to keep my stock old rim in case I damaged the smooth rim that I preferred, and only have to use one set of spacers & axle for both wheels. It may not be the case for what you want to do, but you may run across something similar.
    Cheers Benno

Cheers Benno, yeah healed up as good as I'm going to get. Thanks for the info mate, looks like I will probably just use the hub that I have now and maybe use the 07 hub lace to my old rim.

Why can't you use your  2012 FXDC hub and lace the wideglide rim to that?, guessing you will also need longer spokes and may have to do something about the front mud guard/fender.

Hi mate yeah i can use mine, I have a spare 2007 hub and wouldve used that if I could so I could sell my standard rim in one piece. I have a local Gold Coast man respoking the rim for me using new polished stainless steel spokes.

I have an 07 Superglide I put late model (abs era) wire wheels on.
Quality bearings from a serious bearing supply place solved my bearing issues.
I used some wheel spacers from 07 and some from ABS era 2012?, 2014? I can't remember, but it all bolted up fine, Wheels are straight, fixed in place and rides true. I hope this helps. Im reliably informed that 07 and 08 are the only years using 1" axles. It does make it hard but not impossible.
Oh and 25mm bearings will not fit 1" axles.

Hi I also have a 2012 FXDC and am starting down the road of changing the wheels out.
I want to try to get a 190 back bag in as I read that a 200 will not fit.
I am interetsed to see how you get on Steve.
What size rear are you fitting.
    Cheers

Thanks for the info mate and I might just use my hub (2012) and relace it to the 21" rim. I'm running a 180 rear tyre on mine and it works fine.
The spokes on the 19" are pretty ordinary anyway.

Exactly, and people who should know better told me they would. And I accepted that, and then I lost the receipt. Anyone want some cheap 25mm bearings?

Hi mate yeah I went with the 12 hub and the wheel already had a 100 front tyre on it. For the rear I went with a 180.
