Vic State HOG Rally

Is anyone going to the Vic Hog Rally over Easter? I will be in Melbourne for work the week before and then going up to the High Country the week after so have some time to kill over Easter. I am quite lucky in that I get to ride my bike for work and write it off as a work expense so I thought I might stick my head in and see what is happening.

I realise that this whole HOG scene is not to everyone's liking and to be honest it is not really my scene either. I am a bit of a loner when it comes to the long rides. Go where you want and when you want without having to worry about other's feelings. I am a bit of a Caring, Understanding, Nineties Type when it comes to other's feelings getting in the way of a good ride. But curiosity and timing are both putting me in the right (or wrong???) place over Easter so thought I may as well have look and see for myself.

However, having said that it would be good to catch up and share a beer with anyone who is there over the weekend.

    Cheers,

    Wade.

I recon it might be a good event to pop into if there are shows or events happening, but I find HOG a 'closed group' of old farts with little else to do than talk tourers and collect badges

Tussock, tend to agree. I got my Hog membership when I bought my bike and thought I may as well use it for something. And seeing as I will be in the area it seems like a good opportunity to see what it is all about. Used to go to a lot of rallies back in the day but these were mostly just an excuse for a piss up with a band playing and the inevitable wet T shirt competition.

Doubt this one will have the T shirt comp but I believe there are a couple of bands and a local micro brewery on site.

    Cheers

Yeah, a wet T-shirt competition these days might offend somebody.

I looked at joining, bit to bloody expensive, and it is very political apparently, so thanks but na.
If you are in the area, be worth having a beagle, worst that can happen is you find it isn't for you and go, or they tell you it's a closed event and ask you to go.

    Kadale,

Info is on their web site. Here.

Anyway curiosity has got the better of me so I have booked a ticket to see what it is all about.

Will start another thread when the time comes but had a quick look at the map last night and my rough trip plan will be Adelaide to Melbourne via the Coorong and the GOR. This part of the trip is work related and leaves me in Melbourne over Easter but after this was thinking of heading to Woods Point, Dargo area before making my way back home.
