The bottom one is the better tattoo. Girl looks more feminine, better detail etc. It’s a pretty exceptional tattoo, to be honest.
In saying that, if I had just seen your wife’s alone, I would have thought it is a pretty good tatt! Too late to sweat on it now. I have a few that I can pickfaults with, worse than that one. The only people that will notice is you and the Mrs.

    Just my two cents....

I agree with the above, bottom one is a crisper looking job.

The scale looks a bit out on the top pic.
The jaw line, and fatter face looks a bit weird.
Not that drastic, just a different artists view, but definitely drawn to the bottom tattoo more than the top one.

Im no super artist that will critique the lines or scale, a new tat will look fresh and clear, with out any opportunity to leach,

but to me it looks like a bird has just poked her in the eye

That is a bit harsh Soapy.
Don't know of any photocopy tattoo machines out there.
Plus whoever copied it had to reverse the image and work on an arm of different dimension to the first one.
Not a bad effort really, certainly not a fuck up, IMHO, don't know much about tatts but know a bit about art.

The bottoms one looks realistic face is in portion lines look sharp.
Top one the nose shading is way off the eye looks too far away from the nose.

yep you spotted it .. he hasnt done the nose straight on the face like the original if u take a good look so it makes the eye appear to wide .. i couldnt figure out how it would have happened at first beings as he transfered the pic outline onto her arm and then i realized its the way he had shaded the nose at a slight angle . .. if u look at the eyebrow the original starts at the upwards nose line .. and on the other its not even close really.
i guess its always hard to get the exact replica .. different artist and shading etc,  but the lines should be correct and they are not

Different artist different work I guess
I have a back tattoo , when the tattooist  placed the stencil on my back it look perfect , once finished I wanted to knock the p#@ck out!!
And being words unable to fix it ,spelt correct just the layout is off..
Then I have other tatts no stencil free hand and its perfect.

It all comes down to the artist I recon.  Find one who just seems to nail their work in your mind (and check their webpage/Instagram pics) to do this.
I never wanted a tattoo until I saw a friggin mind blowing back piece and started following the chap.  Took me 10 years to pluck up the nerve to get one but he was the man I went to when it happened, albeit a 1/2 sleeve.  Its never cheap either so you want it done right.

Bottom one does look better ,,, BUT the mistake  you mentioned does'nt stand out , you have to look hard  or have it pointed out........ Want to know a fuckup ,  few years ago was visiting qld ,, while there  the daughter in law , her sister and her mother   all wanted this little tat on there foot , so i piled them and my missis in the car , went down they had booked , and while they were  getting done  waiting there turn paitently ,  it was ,nt a big tat so did'nt take long ,, the missis decided she wanted a little rose on her ankle , so she  put herself in line ,,  Well i thought  stuff this i can't be left out  , the other tattoist became vacant , so i piled in  they all had thers and went shopping ,,   I did,nt know what to  get , so  being impulsive ,, thought IkNOW ,, MY WIFES NAME ACROSS THE SHOULDERS  ,in gothic  writing , that seemed to be popular at the time ,  anyway had it done   picked them up from the shops , went back , wife said what you get , i said  its a suprise ,,  lets have a look they all said , took the shirt of  , proudly shown the love of my life    think around 30 years at that time .
They all looked at it , and burst out laughing ,, what ya laughing at i said ,, the missis says , well it is a suprise the fooking idiots spelt it wrong ,,,  did'nt get the writing correct either ,  so now  if i've got the shirt off just looks like a bunch of mumbo jumbo letters ,, don't show that one very often LOL
