Gents, I took this pic from another site.
I have to change my bleeder screw. The stock one is on the left and the new replacement is on the right.
I heard the stock part was superseded with this new one.
Has anyone changed it, does it seem right with the extra threads?

    Cheers Train

Extra threads shouldn't matter. Important that the size and pitch matches perfectly though and those look different. Also the nose at the bottom is longer. That might mean less thread engagement when it seats so you'd want to check that there is enough to hold it in and make it seal.

go to a brake place like ABS / PBR or the like and get one from there

I too had the same thing handed to me over the counter when mine rounded like yours

Its   a bit hard to say for sure from the pic. Try gently screwing the new one into the caliper. Only use your fingers.
If it feels right it will be ok. If it doesnt feel right dont put a spanner on it and screw it in anyway.
My money says it will be good.

The seat angle of the valve is what's important.
Also when bleeding make sure you use a good spanner/socket, not a shifter that will damage by rounding the screw head flats.

Just read your post again Train.  I thought you had them on the bench. As Ross said the extra threads have got nothing to do with how it works.
He also said the bottom part of the valve was longer  ( seat to first thread ) and it looks like it might be two threads longer.
You probably wouldnt want to go any more than that.

Apparently this is the new bleeder that they use now. Fuck knows why.
This is how the new one sits

Simple....Its WAY friggin cheaper to make it a solid thread instead of the OEM part with two spanner surfaces.
Same job just cheaper thats all
