Each state has their own rules pertaining to firearms, right? I did hear Victoria was tightening the rules so maybe related to that.
As some others have alluded to previously, I’m starting to query whether some of these restrictions coming in under the cover of the virus are actually long term agendas of left leaning governments.

Be interesting in NSW what the Shooters and One Nation have to say - they do have voice here, mainly as the Nationals carry the Libs bags most of the time.

    Very good point JFE.
An initial tightening upon any purchase of ammunition and the purchase of firearms, very restricted at the moment, THEN a nice little segway after things begin to start regaining a little normality. After this, we find that the legislation is, in fact, the old "Temporary permanent" law. shifty barsteads.
I can still obtain ammo in Victoria if needed as a mate is a Primary producer, but don't need any.
I enjoy my target shooting and clay.

    Dear Valued Customer
Due to a Government direction, we are not permitted to sell firearms or ammunition to recreational/ sport/ target shooters, our suppliers are also being affected by this. We anticipate a shortage of all sorts of gear over the next few weeks/ months. Please bear with us while we try to sort out this mess. Due to Supplier Price increases pricing may be incorrect – please call to confirm while we update this.
As always we value our customers and look forward to putting these current restrictions behind us.
    Thankyou.

Interesting it was released on 1st April. Guess if the Governments do have a legitimate concern regarding the possibility of people hording weapons they are able to do what they done. Like most people i reject the inference that its for domestic violence reasons. As for suing not sure what grounds, loss of income, restriction of trade, discrimination ...all businesses have been effected by those measures anyway.

At least In QLD they’ve managed to change the restrictions to allow recreational shooters to still purchase weapons and ammo to reduce pest population on someone else’s property.
    It’s a start I guess.
I do find the domestic violence excuse very insulting...

This is from rebel Gun Works,
I am certain these fellows could trade and not be in contravention of social distancing laws, unlike some of the other things that have been shut ,( Brothels, Pubs, Clubs, and events where people gather in crowds) So IMHO  "NOT NECESSARY" and therefore could be legally challenged. This whole thing is FUCKING REDICULOUS!!!!!

yep, you can buy anything that's NOT a gun or ammo.
With RE1 or RE2. you cant buy a gun or ammo without the said proof.

you just need a family member or mate with some big enough land who lets you "take care of the pest", it's not ideal but it's better than the first time they put that restriction

here's a template i made for myself in case you know someone who'll let you shoot:

Yeah, i get that but in Queensland you need that letter before you are even issued with RE1 or RE2. It is and has always been, a requirement in QLD at least.
In other words they have already got tht at weopons licensing. I shoot on my brothers property.

I was under the impression that QLD licenses automatically came with RE1 and SC1 condition on them (and either SC2 or RE2).
My license has got RE1 SC1 and SC2 by default, as my genuine reason when I applied for it was target shooting (in a club).
I didn’t provide them with any letter from a landowner
