Flight center Melbourne headquarters just sold to a Chinese Company based in Australia

Quoting JFE on 02 Jun 2020 06:21 AM

Flight Centre the brand or the building they are in? So much for looking harder at Chinese investments at a time when the Aus economy shot due to WuFlu.

Just the real estate, same company owns several hotels up in cairns

Its interesting that China is effectively pricing lots of our wine, beef, seafood etc out of the market and wont engage in dialog to sort it out but currently the iron ore price is at a 11yrs high they start whinging........The sharp rise in iron ore prices has triggered a moan from China’s steel industry.

A group of Chinese steel producers on Friday called on the country’s market regulator and securities regulator to investigate the recent spike in iron ore prices, according to Reuters/

That’s a familiar whine from CISA when iron ore prices rise sharply. They never repeat the call when prices fall sharply.
If only we had a market other than them that could take the volume....

Krash its to late....they rule the world and mostly own it as well. Doing like what your suggesting is like removing a single grain of sand from the desert and believing we are reducing the size. As for complaining to every shop selling Chinese goods....that would be close to EVERY shop in Australia. The Chinese may not manufacture a particular product but either the packaging or components come from China

I’ve been moaning about this subject for years.
    No manufacturing left.
The port of Darwin has a lease from the Chinese.
They not long ago bought an ex raaf airstrip a few hundred kms inland from Darwin itself.
Handy for an aircraft carrier I guess.
All the assets, farmland and the water to go with it.
Sold to them by both sides of parliament.
To the Chinese “communist “ Party.
I wish your grandkids good luck people.

Hm, PB treads heavy but speaks the truth, maybe
“you can’t handle the truth” 😎
We as collective Australians have listened too hard and too long to the lefties, “you can’t stop the Chinese from buying Australia, that’s racist” and yet we can’t buy an inch of China. They own more of the planet than I’m comfortable with and there’s zip we can do about it. However, if our Govt wanted, they could legislate to stop selling Australia, personally I’d block all foreign ownership.
