G'day Gents, Just thought I'd say a quick hello and introduce myself.
Been a long time lurker and fan of Harley Davidson. Looking at pulling the trigger on a used bike either a Roadking (Really leaning towards the RK tbh) or a Heritage Softail classic in the 2010-15 range. Any pointers to a greenhorn would be appreciated.

    Cheers Chris

    Welcome to the forum.
Guess u know the two bikes are quite, well, totally different. Different, frame, suspension, engine etc.
For me the seat of the pants difference is that the Road King handles better, has a more responsive engine (no balance shaft) and the harder panniers make life a bit easier, better to lock and leave and in the wet.
Get you bum on both and definitely get some freeway speed time.

Welcome Chris. Being a fan and owner of a tourer, Street Glide i would like to see a picture of you on a Road King. Best thing to do is try a few bikes and see what you think. If your going to ride a tourer make sure you give it a decent run not just around the block

Welcome to the forum. As previously said test ride them to death and make sure you consider what type of riding you want to do - around town / short trips, touring, have a pillion or not etc etc. The dealers with be all over you so don't let them pressure you. There are lots of bargains out there.

Thanks, mate, Yeah I believe it was 2009 that they brought in changes to the frame and engine mounting on the RK and other tourers.  I am looking at 2011 upwards to probably 2016.
As an aside, Project Rushmore added some nice upgrades to 2014 and up I believe (not entirely sure of the details here TBH) so that's a thing.

From an aesthetics point of view (Personal opinion) I like the look of the solid panniers and the larger headlight on the RK. On the other hand, the Heritage bags don't do it for me but these can be removed and look quite nice without.
