You need to go to a better shop ,HD rims would be one of the best on the market, just about everything else comes out of China or tiwian

I'm not into wire wheels at all, but this thread is making me rethink selling my Akront alloy front wheel

Only a crazy man would true a newly spoked wheel when fitted to a bike !!??

I have a cheap ebay balance stand that I use.
Be prepared for many hours of fiddling.

A spoke torque wrench would also make things easier.

A crazier man would imagine that I meant while I was riding it.
Maybe this picture better explains it for the unimaginative.
The wheel is in the air and ready for truing, you can use the fork sliders to make sure you get the rim dead central and using cable ties on the sliders you can get the hop(up and down) to within a cunt hair, bees dick, poofteenth or what ever you want to measure on your thou-o-meter.

what brand rim si that in the pic?
    looks nice.

It is from HD Wheels in California. They are not made by Harley Davidson, that (HD Wheels) is just the name of the company.
When I bought the rim several years ago you could look on their website and see the catalogue of what they sold which was a huge range of stuff. When I looked on the website this year it seemed like they wanted you to pay upfront to download the catalogue which seemed unsporting to me.
Aside from that, I agree with Walka that HD rims (The ones actually made by Harley) are good.

Cheers mate, mine are starting to rust and need fixing.
I want to get mine rebuilt using orig hubs but new polished SS spokes and a 5 or 5.5 inch rear rim so i can get a 190 rear bag in the bike.
Seems to be lots of 16 x 5-5.5 but not much for 17.
    I will keep looking.
