I think my 7” wind splitter is faulty

So I bought a 7” wind splitter cause I hated having to look through my windshield, but after I had it installed I noticed huge gaps on either side of the middle screw. Now I’m no professional or no rocket scientist, and I know I definitely didn’t come down in the last shower, but either this thing has been incorrectly installed or it’s a piece of crap. I’ll just leave this photo here and well guess you can be the judge!

That’s fine e. Mine (10”) has a slight gap as well. I don’t think it was ever supposed to be water tight. You could undo the 3 screws and move it / the fairing around a little.

Hi Steelo my biggest concern as well as aesthetics is water getting into the electrics behind the fairing as I’m sure you could appreciate

Doesn't appear to be an issue. (happy to be corrected by my learned colleagues) I just watched a video on screen removal and there is no seal etc. Have a look for an exploded view.

Not sure about that exact screen but after having mine on and off many times it does not sit like that. You need to loosen the screws and gently push down as the seat on the slotted hole where the screws go, dont over tighten the screws.

Doesn’t look right, 2015 and earlier there is a foam/rubber gasket (P/No: 11100055) between the screen and fairing.
Screen is probably thinner than the original screen that will magnify the gap you have.
    Try this,
    1. Very lightly torque centre screw.
    2. Place end screws into place but don’t tighten.
    3. From the centre screw press on faring and work your way across to the end screw holding pressure while you wipe across, hold pressure and torque screw firmly but not too tight. (Torque using a torque wrench is 0.7-1.5 Nm).

Gasket will be stuck to your fairing, it’s very thin (approx 1mm) and can easily be missed. If screws are tinged to much it will compress the gasket to paper thin.
I have the gasket on both of my tourers, close up of one end.

How the gasket should look if installed and screws torqued correctly.

Well done wc. Good pics.  I’d better look at my screen. There’s a slight gap with the ws screen.

I just bought an aftermarket screen for my ultra, same deal, turned up made of polycarb half as thick as the original OEM unit. Fairing is designed to accept a certain thickness in the screen. If I Was to fully tighten the screws it would crack the fairing. Shits me. Ebay crap, next time I'll spend the money on OEM.

Sounds like you might need to make up a gasket to take up the  gap . Dont know how much gap you have but insertion rubber  comes in different thicknesses.
    Wouldn't be a hard job.

I like bbs idea. You could get a pkt of those simple reddish fibre washers. Won’t scratch and won’t compress. I think the missus got me a pkt of assorted ones from Aldi.

That's actually what I did, but when you pay $100 plus shipping from US, wait 6 weeks all for for 6 bucks worth of polycarb, you expect the right thickness. Shits me.
Maybe more the point I gave him Neutral Feedback on eBay, stating that it was half the thickness as OEM and copped an abusive message off the numpty. Based on this I do do not recommend 'Sled Shields'
