This is disturbing. Newer "Indian".. the cast neck failed just on a corner, no impact. I have no further details.

That is very concerning, especially when the neck is made from cast alloy that will be subject to unknown imperfections/flaws unless Ultrasonic tested before machining the part.

It's disturbing, but without knowing the history, it's impossible to form complete judgements. It doesn't look as though it's hit anything, but popping one wheelie too many could do this to such a heavy bike. We only have the word of the original poster on Facebook that "it just came off".
I'm sure that there will be lots of posts along the lines of "Well looks like I won't be buying an Indian." This is a Harley forum, chances are, you weren't going to buy an Indian anyway.

Having said that, the walls of that casting look very thin and it does look like a brittle fracture with no accompanying bent forks or pretzeled rim....

Indian motorcycle's are closing all there factory dealership's this year in Australia. They are looking for other dealers to take on the Indian franchise, I think Teamoto at Springwood and at the Gold Coast in Queensland are looking at it. Still I would be worried owner with Indian pulling out all it's factory dealership's in Australia to my way of thinking Indian Motorcycle's can't have much faith in the Australian market place if they are not going to have at least one factory dealership in Australia. Anyway just my thoughts.

Why is that, to my knowledge no other manufacturer has their own dealerships.  Indian Motorcycle seemed to be the lone ranger on that model (yeah I know I couldn't resist...).  I think originally they wanted to have total control of the brand and the profits, would make more sense from a profit point of view for the dealer to have more than one brand out the front to increase floor traffic and sales.
It would be good to know the truth behind that photo, I had a Roadmaster and it is a good bike.

Yep not sure the reasons why they are closing down their factory dealership's but it is happening. I contacted Indian Motorcycle's just two weeks and asked if they were looking at any dealers North of Brisbane. They told me that the Brisbane factory dealership closes it's doors around the end of July and the only two new dealers was going to be with Teamoto at Springwood and Gold Coast which is just going to be a franchise to sell Indian motorcycle's. And here lays the problem for people like myself who don't live in the big cities closest Indian dealer for me is a good three and a half hours drive/ride away, Harley dealer just over a hour away from me. Got to love my Harley if only for that reason cheers.

Mate I am hearing you, one of the reasons I went back to Harley was that I have a dealer in the regional city that I live in, Indian dealer was four hours ride away.

On a positive note it could be an opportune time to grease the steering head bearings.

I am a bit concerned about the head being cast,  i personally think steel is stronger.

the trouble with cast iron is there is no give .. wont bend and will just crack or snap off.. if i had to guess what happened i would say the front wheel maybe hit a high curb and the shock snapped it .. or something similar.. also take into consideration that the vin numbers are stamped into that neck and u can see both the top and bottom numbers have been cracked through .. could have been a starting point.

Scouser your spot on the closure is in fact just a transfer from a factory supported/owned shop to a franchised shop. This was reported over 12mths ago by Indian.

Yes Cast iron, never saw a problem, they also had cast Iron Barrels ( bolted to cases no internal studs ) saw a few cast iron barrels crack & shatter, but never saw the cast iron parts of the frames crack and break. but they where very heavy!!

Yeah cast is tough but can be brittle. Could be a one off issue. Not seen it happen with HD Twin Cam Softail cast necks.

I doubt very much if that neck would be cast iron. Cast steel  maybe.  Cast aluminium alloy of some description maybe.
Shouldnt be too hard to google it.  Somebody else that is.

Just read a few posts about this on the Indian forum. This came from a facebook post and is a hoax. According to the information, the "rider" stated they were in a slow sweeper and the neck just broke off. While I didn't investigate, apparently there was some investigation and the rider was hoping to fool InPo into replacing it for him because of the potential casting "flaw" in manufacturing the frame. He didn't have insurance (again, according to the folks that investigated).

It doesn't look like it was a neck failure while riding. No dirt anywhere on the break areas to indicate long term. No other damage on the bike, wheel, motors, bars or fender to show it failed while in motion. There are marks on the side of the fender consistent with it going under the front frame of the trailer. And the body is still upright. It would typically have to be dragged onto the trailer on its side if the front wheel is separated. I think it was in the trailer already when it broke. Either tied down way to tight over the neck, or not enough and the bike came forward on the trailer during braking or a separate collision. Or a combination of both.

the bike definatly has plenty of damage .. dents all over the tank ..paint and chrome , both side lights have damage ..left badly dented and right looks like its hanging off , scraped over the crash bars, ..in fact the harder i look the more damage i see .. pretty sure the bikes been down b how and why is yet to be determined.
