What was wrong with the tensioner HD? I've not seen one fail before, I've had twin cams for 17 years, 15 of which are with the hyd unit, worked on plenty of others and apart from pad wear those just never seem to go bad, it's mechanical so there is always a possibility I've just not personally seen it, interested to know mate.

Mate, it just seemed unusually sloppy at first glance. I was just eliminating everything step by step. I initially thought it might be the secondary CCT. Agree with you that they rarely ever go bad aside from the pad. A possibility the oil gallery behind was restricted though this bike has a PC Racing filter and a thorough inspection showed zero debris or contaminant of any kind. I so prefer working on EVOs and Shovels. ;)

P0505= loss of idle air control
Chased this for long time, Would run well for first 30min to hour then idle 1200-1300rpm.

Was intake seals, follow manual with backing plate in position and use Vaseline

One of the first things I changed mate. I always use red rubber grease on seals, vaso just as good I guess. The crazy thing about my issue was it wasn't throwing 505 at first, it was 113/4 lean. Changed the ETS and it started with 505. Drove me fucking nuts. Process of elimination finally and thankfully resolved. If I had a dollar for every swear word!

i checked all wiring back to ECM, had spare throttle body so changed sensors etc
i think intake seals cause a lot of problems

if you have Powervision tuner you can check IAC steps as well to see whats happening with idle
