    Hi
Just asking, is it money/quality wise, better to buy new black parts or repaint the existing ones?

For example softail slim, if I want triple tree, rocker cover (engine cap), primary cover etc to be black, it will be cheaper to repaint other than buying new ones right?

What about the quality, of the paint itself and of the bike after doing all the paint?

    thx

Get them powdercoated. I've been doing my bike gradually over the last couple of years. Not very expensive to get stuff done either.

I've been waiting for a few months on HD Texture Black being available in Aus again to black out my engine - the texture black is the current factory engine black paint. Easy to apply evenly and tough, I have used it on a bunch of random parts and its looks great.
Ive looked at the VHT hi temp Wrinkle black but i dont like the finish - too wrinkly. Its similar to the pre-2000s blacked out engine finish.

I dunno if VHT matt black is close enough either, but prob good for smaller parts like Pageys derby cover. Gloss black paint is risky - its not gonna look like gloss black powdercoat, could turn out a bit bodgey.

So im just waiting till texture black is available again - or something very close. My local HD dealer says none is planned to come in anytime soon though.
