Street Bob Engine Light

    Hi,

I have installed a PCIII on my 06 FXDB.  Has fixed the tuning problem I was having but now after experimenting with a few different maps, I have noticed that the engine light comes for a few seconds once the bike is first started.  This is after the initial ignition engine check.  It stays on for about 3-4 seconds then turns off and never comes back on.  The owners manual just says to see a Harley Dealer.  I was wondering if any of you have had this or know what it could mean.  The bike seems to be running fine and this didn't occur when I first installed the PCIII.  I have tried 5 different maps and it has only started doing this on the 4th and 5th.  Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

I did some research on this over at the USA HD Forums and found that alot of owners had this happen to them and 9 times out of ten the cause was the ecm throwing out a faulty code and that after a bout a month the engine light stops coming back on and never damaged the bike. I downloaded the self diagnosis codes just in case I ever need them. The US forums is a great source of info.

I have never cleared an old map from the PCIII, I thought it did it automatically. The only reset option is the "reset button values" button in the "Tools" menu but i dont know what that means so i just dont use it.

Last night I loaded map "M807-005" which is the SE slip ons, SE A/C and stage 1 ecm. The bike ran fantastic this morning on the way to work. I would say the best map I have tried so far. Its quite possible then that I do have a stage 1 ecm since its running so well. i thought I had lost it when I rewired the indicators.

BACAMICK: I would love try the Dyno tuned map also. Are you able to email it to me? gant@bigpond.net.au

I just left the active intake plug dangling from the hook supplied in the SE kit. Thought about tracing it back in the harness and disconnecting ....for about 2 seconds then decided i couldn't be rooted. The SE  destructions recommend just leaving it.

Sounds pretty logical to me stix, cheers. Plus I think you summed it up in the first sentence - it's Noit's problem Well, until I get back to his place to pick up my bike and he's sold it!!

I'm hopeful that from what I have read on the DTT that I won't need them eliminators. Bugger the environment anyway, what's it ever done for me!
