Nice link.  The original linked article also mentioned a family address in Ivanhoe, I'll have to go back and check that too.

But yeah, not short of a quid, they also had the Mia Mia property running 1000 head of sheep, with the youngest son managing it and the older son wasting his time on his flying machine and beating around the bush on his motor bike. Not a bad life if you can get it.

Mia Mia is within cooee of my joint. A beautiful part of NE Victoria, views higher up are amazing.. Agree wat a life.

Geeeez is , I’m gonna stay low and under the radar if all you fellas in the back blocks !

Nah , I was referring more to ‘ why not st kilda in the sense of publicity , as mentioned this was 1910 , engines were new tech , flying was like , I dunno space ship techno .
This was a man , before the advent of internet - he was an engineers and a quite clever one by all accounts .
Probably a bit later that the ‘ Victorian era ‘ but still an enlightened fella .
And yes , I’m sometimes in awe of what some people achieved - I work with young people - like half my age and some are amazing , some , fuck Me dead  I dunno how they continue to exist .
Unrelated and another brilliant engineer ‘ the sewage king’ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crossness_Pumping_Station

Always blows me away , more Harley Davidson related is the engineering behind some of those early motorcycles .
I love watching’ wheels through time ‘ on YouTube .

No , I’m not an engineers bum hole , but I’ve worked with some clever clogs .

After a cold morning start yesterday to the second day of winter, turned to a sunny 18/19ish, great day to be out and about, a few picks along the ride Northeast of Perth's farming country.no plane crash or shipwreck sites found. Only a few old buildings with a tale to tell from days long past.

Wasn't much happening at the old Proston butter factory today.
And on the road near Wondai I saw a sign post pointing down a dirt side road to the air crash memorial. I didn't have time to detour, but will be back. When I got a bit closer to town it seemed like the site would be aligned with the length of the Wondai airstrip. The strip's around here were all WW2 training strips; there would have been casualties. In fact, Kingaroy airstrip used to have its own morgue.

Yeah, the 1990 King Air crash looks like the one, still in line with the runway, pilot just seems to have become disoriented at night, thought he was climbing and just flew it into trees then the ground.
I'll detour and take a pic of the monument next time I'm up that way.

Had a steak and kidney pie there for lunch, not bad at all but not quite as good as Blackbutt bakery. The coffee was surprisingly good.

Perfect winters day around 19c, bit of wind chill but still nice riding in the Northern areas of Perth. More pic's from the bush blocks.

Up the road about 40 km from me. On a cattle property about 8 km from the house. Probably an old stock man's hut. From the signage, definitely not a shooters camp.

A shot of the Coondle wheat bin now mothballed and a JH ballast plough parked in the siding, bin still appears in good condition. All other support buildings a bit run down including the weighbridge and workers quarters, nice weather yesterday to be out for a scoot.

They're not pics of rusty out of use sheds, but how about bridges? Not too many out of use sheds around here, no matter how rusty. They're still in use, a lot of them being lived in. Not the richest part of the country.
The first couple are of what used to be the D'Aguilar highway, now its an out of use bridge on an out of use part of the highway over an out of use railway line.

Spilt diesel makes the boards pretty slippery too. Learned that the hard way.
