Hey all, I’m not normally into politic’s, but after seeing how different state premiers have been blocking there state boarder. I’m starting to think, a Republic might not be such a bad idea after all. What do others think?

I can't imagine the current political party's being in favour, they like making the rules.

We should have 1 set of rules and regulations  Australia wide....
Different rules for different states and territories just makes it confusing ..

Mate we are over governed in this country. Three layers of government, all with different rules, multiplied by all the different rules in different state and city/town laws. It’s all set up to keep 1000’s in jobs, I think.
The border debacle is the latest example. Restricting travel made sense when there were credible concerns about the pandemic. The situation has clearly changed weeks ago and borders are still shut due to BS politics.

If the PM told premiers today they are responsible for the welfare bill of those there policies are making or keeping unemployed, the borders would be open in 12 hours max.

Plus we wouldn't win any gold medals at the commonwealth games denying our athletes some additional notoriety and income, and our media and pollies an opportunity to slobber all over them.

    good point!
also , something not adding up. there was a big protest in Sydney, it surely must have exceeded guideline numbers. but no one say's a word. so why no spectators allowed at NRL games? this virus is here for good now need to get used to it move on.

Absolutely 100% agree - Mate we are over governed in this country. Three layers of government, all with different rules, multiplied by all the different rules in different state and city/town laws. It’s all set up to keep 1000’s in jobs, I think.

Local council could look after local roads, libraries, rubbish local parks etc etc. Education, all utilities (electricity, water, sewerage etc), major roads, defense, welfare, etc etc covered by a Australian government. In NSW there are about 135 pollies over both houses and all their associated staff - just think of the wage bill alone !!

Nice notion but being a Republic simply eliminates the monarchy not the states.
The States came about partly from the size of Australia ie too hard to Govern SA from NSW and as you know each State now has different priorities. If we had one Govt body, SA, WA and NT would become minority groups and hardly have a voice.
Yeah I think we’re overgoverned but it’s poor policy rather than too many Govt departments.

Yes something does not add up , the border is closed but we are allowed to ship a footy team in to play footy??? WTF???
Further more we now have all these protesters in sydney and brisbane and elsewhere defying the restrictions along with the previous hot spots in sydney and victoria.etc.
SHUT THE BOARDERS NOW!!! and shut them properly. not half half)(*&^

Don't understand the qld border closures. A person I know who lives in Brisbane drove over the border to visit friends and stay the weekend down near Ballina. Had no trouble at all. I was under the impression that you couldn't cross unless it was work related or for compassionate reasons
