That looks complicated to me. How do you know which one is getting foggy?

After going carbon fibre a few years ago, I dont think I could go back to a non CF or normal weight lid.
    This is my current lid.

John, I have been on the lookout for a CF helmet that meets the AU NZ standard. a friend of mine was wearing a Shark CF I felt it and want one. what model is your's? as I was checking them out at MCA & the CF Shark they had did not feel as light, the salesman showed me another Shark that was CF and lighter than the first one I looked at.

'Sunscreen' of the Woolworths variety or 'Sunscreen' of the far cheaper bug guts sort?

Krash - check out the Shark Explore-R if you can find one. Meets the AS standard.

I have one in CF and it was cheaper than normal shells and I ditched the dirt bike crap. Overall I'm happy with it ... probably only slightly behind a Shoei overall. Inbuilt wet/cold weather neck roll thing is handy occasionally. You can also swap out the visor for the included goggles.

FWIW, I do like the style of the adventure bike helmets. Plenty of room in the chin area for ventilation and comms, peaked guard, internal drop down visor. Just dont see a lot being used on road bikes.
Heres a quick little video on the subject

I've got their top spec one. Its the Shark Race-R Pro Carbon, weighs around 1250ish grams.

My first CF lid was a cheap, pretty bare bones no name model but it was great. This new one is a tiny bit lighter (50-100grams) but feature wise is way better. The tinted visor is dark as fuck, the air vents are awesome and actually work, and the interior padding and overall quality, feel and noise reduction inside is 10 x better than the first cheapy.

For comparison, this Harley helmet (made by Arai) is 1650ish, and they reckon its lighter than most full faces.

I think all Aussie standard helmets are thick, look like egg/mushroom.
Some DOT brands would try reduce the thickness while still legal (to DOT).

DOT is legal in Australia now? I think? A cop pulled me but didn't fine me.

    oops....
I was pulled by two police once (both riding). They laughed my dot helmet for being low standard and left.

Maybe because I was on commute?

time to go back to my giant mushroom then.
