For some reason I'm really hoping it's just a noisy top end (ie Rocker Box slop) and not something more sinister.

I really like this bike and ride it a lot, knowing that something is internally borked in it just got me doing the "what if" in my head.... has a needle bearing let go and gone through it etc.

I know it's under warranty and it's their issue, but at the same time just chucking another set of lifters in it is a bandaid solution at best.

I swear it's down on power... maybe it's the warmer air, maybe I'm used to the power... I dunno. I'm a glass half empty kind of guy :(

    Thanks mate.

Tune should be spot on, done by arguably Sydney's best tuner, was there myself with him all day working on it.  95hp/114ft lb and a ruler flat 13:1 AFR and the rest of the cruise map is spot on as far as I'm concerned.

The tech that is looking after it is the lead tech/master tech. He's a good guy and will do the right thing by me I'm certain. I feel confident leaving it with him for sure.

If the lifter is dead, I presume they don't use adjustable pushrods if they are replacing with OEM? So tank off, rocker covers off too in that case.

Gets me thinking, only a few head bolts and the top end is apart haha. Why not go 117.

Issue there is I run Powervision, no way they will warranty it without using SERT.

Just heard back from dealer, lifter(s) is bad. Been replaced.

I've asked them to check crank runout too while it's apart, for reference. Hopefully have it back by Tuesday.

Brash if you can get into the shop to have a look while the cam chest etc is off, I'd highly recommend doing so. Have a look at your crank wear, cam wear, and lifter guide wear - that will tell you very soon if it is out or not, and you'll have the peace of mind of you having seen it yourself.
It's probably nothing like you say, but if it were me (and even being positive) I'd want that off my mind.

Yea work gets in the way of my life sometimes too sadly, so I feel your pain.
Ask for pics/vid of the inspection. Explain it's to give you peace of mind. If your tech is going to the extent of checking it then it shouldn't bother him to provide that extra little bit.

Got the bike back, quiet as a mouse.

    Leak Down test: 2%F 2%R (max 15%)
    Compression test 220F/220R (200-220psi)
    Flywheel runout 0.004" (max 0.012")
    oil pressure @2000rpm 38psi (35-38psi)

Tech showed me the pics of all related components, all looked fine. Cam lobes spotless. Waiting for an email and I'll post them.

Cost to HD Aus..... $825!! Glad I'm not footing the bill.

Yea those are clean. The wife's were quite noticeable scratches/gouges. Looks like the wear is pretty even and clean from the pics.
